G'day
Basically the headline is my question. I'm almost set on getting the full coilover kit from Ridetech, but wanted to know if the Truturn system is going to clear the oil pan on a 502. I know most people are using LS engines, but I just want to keep the car as a big block. Has anyone had any experience with this? Because I'm in Aus, it's a little harder to order the parts and then take them back to the shop if it doesn't work. I kinda need to do as much homework as I can before I start handing over the bucks for product and freight costs.
Thanks, Justin

I would call Ride Tech or pm Bret, I think if I remember the TT fits in the same space as the stock steering just a little higher. The only issue that I have heard is with some headers not having enough sweep back to clear. I am going to run the Tru turn with a big block so it will be interesting to here if there is an issue.
And Welcome to the site great place to have fun and spread some cash!!
I honestly do not know ...we have not fit the Tru Turn here with a big block car. We may have had some customers do that fitment...I'll have to rely on them to comment.
The Tru Turn drag link bracket set a bit behind the oem draglink and the inner tie rod ends are moved up about 2".
You're being is Australia does present a "try it and see" problem:). I'll try to track down an existing customer who has this combo and comment here asap.

Thanks for the response! Yes, it's certainly hard to get some info, but loving the amount of quality stuff you guys are producing over there. I think there is a big call in Australia for this type of gear. There are alot of US muscle cars here plus the Australian equivalent of fords and holdens. Classic touring car racing is getting very popular here and there are some really quick cars driven by former Australian Champions like Mustangs, Camaros, Ford GT's and a very quick AMC Javelin driven by Jim Richards. The racing is awesome!
I'm going to wait for a few more responses and do a bit more measuring before I make a final decision on what combo to fit. Thanks again. :)

Hi Bret,
Have you guys ever considered making a downloadable template a potential customer can cut out and check fitment? Sort of like brake companies do for rim fitment.
As soon as I get all my dealer information back to you guys i'd like to put a list of what will work together.
Justin, what headers and oil pan are you running? Shoot me an email, maybe we can put our heads together and see if you can get it to work,

At the moment, I havent changed the car as yet. It has a 396 with hooker headers that are swept back. The existing drag link clears the oil pan by about an inch as standard, so once I consider dropping in the 502, I'm guessing it will be similar, although I haven't measured one, so again, I'm guessing. A custom oilpan could be made, But I'm not sure where the pickup sits in a 502, so maybe I also need to find a pickup that sits closer the the back of the pan. 2 inches is a fair distance though, but I'm sure it could be done... Certainly don't want to stuff the engine though.

If your pan is similar to stock and your headers are swept back you should be fine. If a stock panned big block can fit an aftermarket steering rack then Truturn should not be an issue. The 2" rise on the drag link bracket is at the ends. This is where you will run into header issues. An after market pan will add more room and usually has a modified pick up already designed.
