HELLCAMINO'S turn for the worse!

No pun intended!
I was out to eat last Friday night with some friends. Heading home (about 15 mile drive), I was 4 miles from home. I travel this road often......there is a sharp 90 degree bend that I gear down for, a small straight accross a bridge then another 90 degree bend. I came around the first one and gave it a little gas not knowing that the roads were damp from the recent rain coming off the trees. BAM.......wet spot coming out of the turn, back end got away from me and I ended up sliding sideways into a ditch and smacked a tree. It's repairable, but I won't be hittin any autocross events anytime soon.

Did that once with my 87 GT. Came around a corner, got on it hit a wet spot and bounced off the curb. Bent the rear wheel, brake drum, axle and backing plate. If i was going any faster it would have been a lot worse. Sucks when it happens.

Well, I managed to get the front clip off with no more paint damage to the doors.

My son and I pulled all the suspension and did some clean up and painting. Made sure nothing else was damaged as well.

Got some parts the other day!
Still waiting for the fenders, bumper and brackets to get here. Mounting new tires today, bleeding fronts, and ordering new sway bar and mounts. Should be on the road in 2 weeks.

They can, off a toggle or wired into the parking lights.

I have to say that without a doubt it sucks to have wrecked the car but you have executed the repairs, selected and performed tasteful upgrades and made a bad thing into a Good thing! Gotta love the stinger hood and you took serious advantage of having the passenger fender off when you put the A/C delete in. Perfect

Thought I would post an update on my bad luck. Well, 2 days after getting the hood somewhat lined up on the new front end, 2nd gear blew out in my old 350th. I pulled the pan and sure enough, metal shrapnel throughout. I pulled the motor and trans, freshened motor with new head, intake, oil pan gaskets, rear main seal and a fresh coat of Chevy orange. Picked up a fresh rebuilt 700R4 with a lock up TC for $500. I needed to order a few parts to finish the install, but all went farely well. Just not happy with the sluggish 2-3 and 3-4 shifts (needs some upgrades in the near future). Here are a few pics of the progress with my 12 year old helper.

I don't.......they are only visible without the headlights on. Can really only see them before dusk with just the parking and halo lights on. Plus the quality is terrible. I have only had them for 6 months and both are not lighting fully.
