Have decided to go with the American Racing Turque thust classics. I have tubular upper and lower A-arms w/ 2 inch drop springs. The rear is mini tubed and my 12 bolt will be narrowed to fit my rims w/ Heidt four link. Looking at 17x8 front 17x11 rear and would like to know your thoughts on the correct back spacing for my rims.

What size tires are you going to run? Without knowing that, and assuming something like a 245/45/17 up front and a 315/40/17 in the rear...
I would go 4.75" BS on the front, If you are narrowing the rear, then it really depends on how much lip you want. I think with around 7" BS on the rear you wouldn't have to modify the rear end. The less BS you have (6,5,4") the more lip you will have, and the more you will have to narrow the rear end.

The 12 bolt that I have is from a truck and is a few inches wider than my stock 10 bolt plus a 4 3/4 bolt pattern, so I knew I was going to have to narrow the axle. I would like the lip to be the same front to back ( I like the look). I know that there is more tire sellection if I go 18 but I did not want to loose to much ride quality with a narrower side wall. To me it would be worth the extra money for a better ride. I am not a tire expert and would love to hear some sugestion for tires with this setup. It will be mostly street driven, and it might see a track day once or twice a year. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I missed your last post.
I'm no tire expert, I just did a lot of research when I bought mine.
One thing to consider is that for best performance, you generally don't want to go more than 40-50mm difference in front to rear tire size. So if you ran a 245 up front, a 295 is about as big as you want to go for the rear. Also there are tire width ranges for each width wheel. For example, on an 8" rim you would want to run something like a 235-255, on an 11" rim you would want to run something like a 305-325, etc. And different tire manufacturer's may have different recommendations, so check with which tire company you are looking at.
To have the front and rear lips match the difference in backspacing needs to be the same as the difference in wheel width. So if you were running a 17x8 up front with 4.75" BS, you would want to run a 17x11 with 7.75" BS, or a 17x10 with 6.75" BS, or a 17x9 with 5.75" BS, etc.
One last point, my limited knowledge is based on 67-68 Camaro's, and the 69 may be a little different. You may be able to go with a little wider tire up front, and if so the 315's in the rear might work out for you.
One more last point...If you went with the 245/45/17 up front, it will be a 25.7" tall tire. A 315/35/17 in the rear would be the exact same size while a 315/40/17 would be 26.9" tall. Whatever you do, just make sure the rear is the same size or taller than the front. If the front is taller than the rear, it looks a little odd.

You can run 335/35/17s on the 17x11 and they look great and are 13" total width sidewall to sidewall.
