So I need a new distributor and saw these Skip White units on another site and they look too good to be true. Was wondering if anyone had used them or heard of them? Supposedly same as Proform? Here's the link: http://www.skipwhiteperformance.com/prelist.aspx?Product=A. Was looking at Davis unified, summit, or maybe Pertronix. Got a 73 Pontiac 455 w/worked iron heads and a cam that'll see more street than strip. Budget is around $250.

It does look too good to be true. I don't know about Proform, but I bought a Procomp HEI a couple of years ago and it was junk. I never even installed it after pulling it out of the box. It looked okay on the outside but the module wasn't sealed and the bearings felt funky. I have a rebuilt GM HEI in the wifes' LeMans and it seems to work good.

The distributor on my '69 Grand Prix is pretty crusty, I might have to try one of those.

Yep..... Skip White unit ....

Right off Ebay.....

Yes.... its made in China, but I have talked to at least 1 Pontiac engine builder that installs these Chinese distributors in his engines, never had an issue. Also a fellow club member has been running one for years..... also no issues...

Also have talked to one of the distributor guru's on the Performance Years forum..... of course he said there are a few mods he would prefer to do to them regarding the lubing of the shaft at the top, but all in all, he feels they are good units.

I change out the cheapo adjustable vacuum advance for an OEM one, and I found the curve out of the box to be fine......

my bone stock GTO has run mid 14's without touching the curve, and drives awesome day to day.....

I see you've already been over to PY, so probably not anything new but it seems they all like either Dave's small body HEI or something stock modified by SunTuned. Personally, I have a Tomahawk Chinese unit from PPR which lots of guys also run. With that said, I am having some minor issues with it though.

Them small body HEI's look pretty cool OLDFLM, never seen em but always wondered if it could be done. I think a skip white will be what I'll try and if it fails, its off to Dave's Small Body or maybe build my own? Thanks everyone.

I picked up a spare dizzy off ePay and sent it o Dave... he converted it to an MSD trigger for me. Looked stock and connected to a MSD 6AL that I painted black and mounted on the passenger side of radiator support... stealthy!

Pretty quickly as I remember... but as I said, I got an extra from ePay and sent that to him. My stock dizzy already had the HO Racing "accuracy kit" in it from year before...

The Davis Unified Ignition HEI is an excellent piece, I have used and installed them, no flash or fluff just a good part.
