hey guys,
i at the point in my project were i need to get my lines for my power steering.
i have a corvette style pump with remote mount tank,
the pump came with adapters to AN, the one out the top is -6 and the side outlet is -10 i believe. is it necessary to run -10 on the outlet to the gearbox or can i get by with -8
the only reason is i have alot of new -8 AN fittings and line and it would save somebucks if i could run the 8 but if i have to i will run and get -10 stuff
if it matters, it is a stock gear box on a 88 monte carlo ss and the motor is a 350 ramjet with the vintage air front runner set up.
thank you

The -10 I think is for the freed from the reserviour. My DSE kit came with -6 for all the pressure lines. The -10 I think is mainly because the stock hose barb type fitting is 5/8in so it lets people stand a chance at reusing some plumbing.

You can't use just any hose for the -10 hose. It has to be one that won't collapse under vacuum.

I going to have to disagree with KRC. I've always thought that the return line was not under any pressure or suction. This is why it is recommended that your reservoir is as close to and above the pump so that the fluid can "drain" into the pump. It will not be "sucked" in, so there's no need for anything more than something like pushlock hose.

Doh! I forgot the link from PSC.

I'd be interested in hearing why KRC says what they are saying. Maybe at very high RPM there is some suction going on, but I wouldn't think it would be enough to collapse a hose. Those Pushlock hoses are stiff as hell, it was a bitch putting one in my Bronco.
