2nd P/S pump making noise???

So I put in a LQ4 and am using the pump that came with the truck. I took the original fitting out and reinstalled it in the trucks pump. After starting the car the pump is making noise. I just installed a new pump and the same noise is there. Do i need to take the spring and the plunger from the original pump as well? Its the only difference I can think of?

What else can it be? Two pumps are bad?

So it seems that I have air in the system. Every time I take the cap off its almost foamy... Whats the "proper" way to get the air out?

as far as i know for a PS system, its just turn the wheels and make the pump work

I posted this in the LSX section as well, but someone over at LS1tech said that when using a P/S pump with the two return fittings ( one for the hydraboost ), you should be using the lower fitting. Well I'm now at work and I know that mine is connected to the upper. I wonder why it makes a difference???

From AGR's site here are the instructions for bleeding the air from a power steering system with additional info for bleeding air for a car with Hydroboost. http://www.agrperformance.com/AGR-Installation/bleedinginstructions.pdf

I just installed a new type II pump, and I have a Hydroboost brake system as well. The above instructions are the best I have found. Get all of your lines correctly routed before attempting to bleed the system.

Looked up a picture of the power steering pump that comes with most LQ4's.......you lines should be routed as follows:

High pressure OUT from lowest fitting on back of pump 3 to high pressure IN on your steering box (larger fitting)
Low pressure return (smaller fitting) from steering box to (lower) 2 tube fitting that goes to back of pump
Low pressure return from Hydroboost to the (upper) tube fitting on side of pump reservoir 1

Thanks for the help. I am not running a hydroboost unit. Putting the return line on the lower fitting fixed the issue!
