View Full Version : DSE Mustang
Just got back from the Mid-America Mustang and while I was there got to see DSE Mustang up close. It is very impressive and from what I herd they would not let Kyle run in the Vintage race oh he was about two seconds faster than most of the vintage cars. I see now how it does bolt to the front subframe very nice!

Can't wait to get mine...thanks for the pics. That's the first casting I have seen. Did you notice if the cast crossmember was under the car or are they still running the prototype?

What is the retail price on this? I wish this was a option before I pulled the trigger on my currant setup, although I am not unhappy with it but this does look super nice

That is so nice! I sure wish they would take that design to Mopars also. Mopars have nearly the same frame rail set up.

Dont hold me to this but I thought he said around $6k. I am almost sure the crossmember is gone. 65-67 can run a 275 upfront 69-up can run 295 upfront.

Ouch ya I looked at buying the Agent 47 kit but it was close to that in $. My complete kit was >2500. Now it is a mcpherson strut setup like a foxbody up mustang and a Long arm short arm setup would handle better but .... Guess I am to poor / too cheap to spend that much lol

Did you happen to take any other pics like the interior of the test car?

I was quoted a price that was a little over $6k for the initial intro price but keep in mind that is less brakes, ps pump, brackets, hoses and motor mounts. then you have to consider there will be cost associated with adapting the column (stock or aftermarket). and the kit will include the std non-adjustable shocks which I believe are supplied by JRI so you still end up with quality stuff. None the less this kit is very impressive and hope to someday run it on my car, had it been out a year and a half ago I would have bought it and not thought twice, but im a lot of money into my current setup.

What is the "Gateway" suspension? I have a 68 cougar and bought the AJE racing kit and for 2500 I got everything including a rack and steering adapter and motor mounts (He also did a 1 in drop on the mounts at my request). I get the Dse is superior in max effort handling but 6k is a ton of cash

$6k is a lot! and that amount doesnt even get you on the road but i guess it depends on your intended usage.Gateway is the former RRS north america dealer. they have pretty much taken the RRS design and improved upon it a ton!! Not to mention all the gateway parts are available here in the states. if you would like PM me and i can fill you in more so i dont destroy this thread here is their site: http://www.gatewayperformancesuspension.com/ you have probably seen their yellow 68 coupe in magazines and in a lot of you tube videos.
I went with it cause at the the time( I had got a settlement from a previous employer and wanted to do something while I had money to burn!) It was pretty much my best choice for suspension so that I can adjust ride height without sacraficing ride quality, not hack my car to pieces so that once a better suspension kit comes out or when i finally figure out what the cars sole purpose is, i havent hacked everything up, plus I already had R&P on the the car and not having to yank the motor etc. was appealing since I was wanting to get the car back on the road, not start another domino effect.I looked at the AJE kit and did not care for the fact only a few bolts was holding everything together ,and like I said my car still wasnt hacked up. So now when Im ready to go DSE or something else possibly, its just a matter of taking the front end apart not trying to patch frame rails or weld new sections in etc.
I think it is what you want out of the car. The DSE kit is extreme but it is In line with other kits from griggs and other high end stuff.

i used to consider Griggs high end but after my buddy worked over there for a few years and he told me about the high failure rate of front bearings with their spindles, I have changed my mind. they may have it fixed by now.
The new cortex stuff is high as well.

Absolutely! Cortex has gone ahead and really engineered the areas where I felt the Griggs suspension has lacked, plus Phil is a hell of a nice guy!

not gona lie I wish DSE would think about doing some stuff for later model years of stangs (2005 up maybe). they do for 5gen camaros, send some of that this way
That's funny because Stacy was racing a late model mustang like a 07 or close to it. They also had another late model in there both.

Last time I saw Kyle and Stacy at an event I had had to take my Mustang because my Camaro was broken, and I jokingly told them they needed to build late model Mustang parts. Their response was that it was on their list of things to do. I know they have other projects to work on first, but it is something they hope to release at some point in the future. You might need a little patience though, well, maybe a lot of patience.

Retail was announced today $6500 for the front and $3000 for the rear.
Sounds like I have to sell the camaro to get that for the stang!

That be a bump stop, or jounce bumper, that bracket welds on to the framerail.

I did get a ride in the car at GG Nashville and it felt as planted as any of their other cars......for whatever that is worth. I am hoping they will let me drive the car around at Motorstate......just looking for some street driving impressions.

I forgot to update this after Motorstate. I got a few lap ride along with Ryan Matthews at the wheel on the road course. It didn't seem he was working very hard to go fast, I know good drivers can do that but that car was stuck.
I did drive the car on surface streets for about 15 minutes. I found ride quality to be very good. My wife was riding shotgun and noted that it rode much better than her 2012 Mustang. That was with no setup changes from track to street.
My DSE parts came in yesterday, serial number 007 on the crossmember. The car is still at the dipper so it may be a bit before I get started.....it will be a bit longer before I drive it.

While it sounds expensive (and it is to a point..) it is right in the ballpark with all the other high end suspensions of this caliper (Cortex, Roadster shop, DSE, AME). I am just glad people are finally making stuff for Fords now. The only downside (for me) is Ford made the Falcons slightly different width than the Mustang requiring a different setup all together. For my car I am going to have to stub it.
One question I do have looking at the different brands lately is wheel fitment. I wonder if off the shelf wheels are available or are these new systems going to require a custom wheel every time?

The suspension & the DSE Mustang are both very impressive. We will be getting a 66 Mustang in the shop in a few months for a major redo. Talking with the customer on going with the DSE F&R suspension. Hopefully that is the way he decides to go. :-)
