Has anyone else had a DSE panhard bracket break? 69 Camaro with mini tubs and Quadra Link, the car now has 3000 miles on it and has been autocrossed twice and one HPDE. The right hand bracket broke off even with the frame rail, all of the welds look good.

I'll get it on the lift in the morning and get some pictures.

Thanks, Mark

I think it has happened before. I know that Stielow used a cross-support to reinforce the bracket a couple years ago. I've also seen increased gusseting on that panhard mount as well.

Allen from DSE called this morning, they are very interested in finding out what went wrong and how to fix it.

So am I. From what I can see the crack grew from the framerail out.....that's strange.

The bracket does not look like it is welded to the frame rail at all in the first pic. That would allow the crack to start at the weakest point in a corner or bend and it has both right there.

I noticed the same thing the outer edge (tire side) of the bracket isnt welded to the frame rail in picture 1, its not even butted up against the rail, looks like about an 1/8 inch gap

I started to type the same thing that you guys mentioned, but didn't because I'm far from an expert in Quadra-link installs. I found a pic on DSE's site that show, what I think is the same area that you are referring to. (hopefully I'm not causing trouble by using a pic from their site - -if so I can delete it)

It also does not appear to be laterally welded across the rail either as you can see the edge of the bracket unwelded at the radius.

You are right, it was not welded across the frame rail. Detroit Speed was very helpful in diagnosing the problem, Allen and Stacy both called and they are sending a new bracket. Thanks for the input.

Good for DSE, they always come through! Just make sure its welded correct and it should outlast the car!

We have not had any reports of this prob. Before!

In your case, the bracket wasn't welded properly. However, I talked to Charlie Lillard at the HRPT and the panhard bracket on Jackass broke once, prompting them to add a diagonal brace from the bracket to the shock crossmember. I may do the same myself just for my peace of mind, but my car won't get driven nearly as hard as his.

The one on Jackass broke a few years ago but Kyle had already updated the kit with a gusset as I recall. Jackass had the earlier kit. He sent out the gusset. We added that and another brace just because we are good at breaking stuff.
