Found these pics over at lateral-g.net. I didn't catch the guys name because I saved them a few days ago and lost the thread. Quite a few people on this forum have been interested in the chevy Rallye in bigger sizes (16'-20') for Camaros, including myself, but pics have been limited to actually seeing what they look like (although there are a few people starting to pop up with them). But this guy is runnin' 20's on a 69'. Not sure if I can see my 68' "rollin' on dubs", but it definatly makes a statement! I think there 20x8.5 all-around.

I think his name is Sandro. Not sure though. Maybe he'll chime in if he's a member here.

I am not really a fan of the big wheels. IMHO a great wheel selection will make a car. The 20"+ wheels seem to overwhelm the car as oppossed to enhancing the cars appearance.
By and large I think that "Dubs" are better appreciated by a younger crowd. .

For those that cant see the pics, here you go. Image shack is getting slow so hopefully they work. I dont think the rally wheels look bad at all.
If the pics dont show up big then hit refresh.

Ahhh...thanks Adam. I think I've seen that car and a yellow one like it before. I think it might have been in another portion of the board.

He should have stuck with the rears that are on in the lift pic. Looks like they are HRE's. The rally's look odd. The center cap is not proportioned to the wheel. Maybe the 18" would have looked better. Not saying that its the size, more like the style and size combo.

Yeah the other wheels obviously look better that he had in the rear. But you gotta respect the people that try to be different.

Depends on the theme he was going with too....Full on pt car yes the multi spokes

Badass 69 camaro to drive around, have fun with, big inch rallys all the way the cool factor is a lot higher with the rallys! IMO

maybe its just me but they look goofy and disproportional. As was said, i think the rear wheel on the lift pic looks better. I dont see the necessitity of having rims largers than 19" on a street car. God forbid you hit a pot hole. An SUV maybe, but thats simply because its bigger, slightly more proportional and doesnt look odd to me, although 24" would be the max. just my .02$, although im sure there are those guys out there that think that 17" is too big. :hmm:

Sandro is a buddy of mine, we live about 5 mins from eachother.

There are pics of his car (on my site), and his 2 buddies named Lui. One has a yellow '69 with the 20" ralleys f/r the other has a red '68 with 20" ralleys f/r. Lui with the red '68 used to have the spoke HRE's with 19" front and 20" rear. They are actually for sale if anybody is interested. There are some pics of them on the Red '68 on my site.

Sandro's new 20's are 9.5" rear and I believe either 8" or 8.5" fronts.

If you have any questions on any of the cars, he knows all the specs. He posts over at lateral-g and I don't think he's registered here at pt.com

bleck. 18s would have still been unique and looked soo much better.

nice car though...

I think they look good, side profile a bit small but still very nice. Center cap proportion relative to the wheel diameter looks good to me. Although I would probably do 18's in a hearbeat or maybe 19's just the rear. Either way, nice job Sandro!

I also have to agree. The 20's look good and the car stance's makes them look even better :headbang:

I like the 20's on the back ok.. but not on the front.. just looks wrong.. they also make the rake of the car look wrong..

Maybe 18's or 19's tops on the front..

Just my .02 (Canadian)

It seems to me that Sandro is ahead of his time. About 2 years ahead the way I see it. :) When I bought my 18s last year it seemed most everyone here still prefered 17s. Now most are going for the 18s or maybe 19 in the rear on 69 camaros. Personally, I find it hard to consider a car pro-touring with 'dubs', but I would never criticize how someone builds their car. If everyones car looked the same I would just sit in my garage and stare at my own. :) OK, I'll admit it, sometimes I do :rotfl:

Wow, lots of different opinons here! I love em'. I agree with most that that the size may be a little extreme, but it sure does make a statment. Syracuse, NY just hosted a huge car show last weekend and not one of the estimated 6000 cars there were running bigger Rallye's (anything over 15'), not to mention 20's! And I saw everything from the played out TTII's (which still look hot) to every other billet wheel out there. The 17-20 inch Rallye is awesome in my opinion. And I know that since it's a stock looking Rallye, it may or may not make your car recognized as a PT car. And the debate still rolls on about what is or isn't a PT car. Maybe thats not what he's going for, but just to make a statement. :dunno: Although I wouldn't run that setup, I want something close to it. I keep coming back to choosing the Rallye even though there are so many slick looking wheels out there. Love the setup Sandro. :worship:

The HRE's looked bad a$$ on the red car. Personally, i think they are the best looking wheels on the market! And when the red car had the 18/19 rally's, it definitely looked great too, not mainstream and proportioned well to the car for the style of rim. I see the point about thinking out of the box..maybe its just the size/style combo that doesnt sit well with me. Do I think a 19/20 or 20/20 combo looks great on a classic, absolutely...if the right style is used.

He's making a statement. Dare to be different. Honestely, how do you set you car apart WITHOUT opening the hood.

Man those are sick! I would love to put those on my 70 Chevelle. Can't afford them, though (boo hoo).

Point - laugh - repeat. Those 20" rallies look goofy as heck. The HRE's looked so much better, as did the previous classic 5 spoke wheel he had on there. Rallies would have looked much better in a 17" or 18" version.

I like them. They attract attention, but keep the heritage of the car.

I definitely like them. Didn't think I would but they look great on that Camaro. Wonder what a set would look like on my 69 Camino?

I've been wanting the billet rallyes for awhile now; been trying to find a used set but I don't think I'll have much luck. I've been contemplating about selling my daily driver to get a set, it might be worth it lol. I think a 17/18 inch combo would be perfect for my 68.

For me, Pro-Touring is all about the performance not about the look. Although the look is great, and the sleek pro-touring look is so much more than the 5-7 color paint jobs and the 3" wide skinny's of the drag look.

I would never go with a 20 on a car unless i was putting in some tires that had a sidewall of atleast 2.5 inches. Anything lower makes straight accelaration grip very difficult. With modern tires you can get away with the small sidewalls that can be used for acceleration and cornering. The advantage for a smaller side wall is much better cornering due to less flex in the tire on hard corners. With the tiny side wall on those, i bet he spins those tires all day under high torque, especially at 8.5-9in width.

I could be wrong, and I have been in the past, but from what I have read 20in Rims sacrifice perfomance for look. I personally am not willing to do that.
