So I find this ad for a '66 Chevelle on Craig's list near San Francisco "$250 or it goes to the crusher". I just couldn't watch another hard top go to the scrapper, so let's see if my wife really has a sense of humor.

I picked the car up, and trailer-ed it to the Good-Guys show for inspiration, a guy greeting me in the parking line asked if I was in the right place. He thought it should be scrapped.. I needed less judgment, more inspiration.

I finally fixed the $250 Photo, just won a Corvette C4 rear suspension for $199. I also picked up an "Iron LS" truck engine complete.

I have seen worse brought back from the jaws of the crusher... Go get 'em! Sounds like you got a good start with the parts.

That thing looks like a cream puff compared to my Mustang when I brought it home, and you got it for $250, hell I had to pay $400 for it.

Back at it this weekend:

I picked up a C4 Front suspension from a 1993, ($300 Craigs list San Diego) bigger brakes than '85 I have a matched set suspension now.

Found a set of doors on Craig's list for $300 one missing window glass.

We will test fire the truck LSX as soon as a stand is built. Then a Thumper Cam

Looking for a 1995(ish) 6spd. Camaro Trans- Is a steel bell housing necessary to run with an LS series block?

What about building the car as a driver without doing any exterior body work?.. To keep the price down.

This car starts conversations every where I stop with it on the trailer, especially when I was scooping out the Racoon Poo at the car wash.

I wanna know what 50's car is behind the Chevelle?
57 Chevy?

Sounds like a great project.
I built a 69 Camaro back in 2001. I used C4 front and rear suspension.
I sold the car before it was painted and on the road because I split up with the ex wife.
Do yourself a favour when you do the rear suspension, get rid of the stock dog bone forward links and replace it with something longer.
The only reason they are so short on the C4 was because of packaging issues, the seat is very close to the rear suspension.
I built a bracket that was very similar to a 4 link you would see on a 1/4 mile car. I had several holes to choose from so I could tune it a little bit.
I don't have my old cad drawings anymore but I'm sure there is someone on here who can help you out if you're not comfortable figuring it out on your own.

What are you planning for the front? grafting it in of starting from scratch?
Have fun with it.

Keith Quinn.
