What are you guys (and gals) running for lug nuts on your cars with long studs?
My wheels should be the standard 60* (or 45* Not 100% sure yet) conical seat and the studs are 2" long 1/2"x20
I can get standard open end steel lug nuts everywhere but I see extended ones only in aluminum? Anyone have any input on what would be the best for a 75% street 25% track car?
Heres an example of the extended lugs

and my new studs

the aluminum ones will probably be ok if you keep an eye on them, personally i only use steel lug nuts because i've been in a car thats lost a wheel and its no fun, plus it gets costly to fix the damage.

I'm running 3" studs and these are the open lug nuts I use. I have been very happy with them. I like the flared base which makes them easier to install with a deep socket and they are inexpensive. There is no way I would run aluminum lug nuts.

those lugs are very nice, I can see on the side of the lug there made from 7000 series aluminum (great stuff I worked for alcoa a few years(15)back on the devlopment and improvement of 7000 series) OK back to the lugs, we have raced for many years (SCCA) with aluminum lugs on our Porsches they came factory that way, just use a good anti seize on the threads (so the aluminum wont gall) and retighten before events
