Hi All....Does anyone have any pictures of the cars in the background of last nights Overhaulin'. They worked over a '69 Road Runner convert. on that episode. It looked like the car that Toyo Tires built for the Power Tour?
My wife wants to start her car and she liked the look of the purple Challenger in the background. Any help from the California crew is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Oh man, I was wiping my eyes at the end of that episode. When "the mark" popped that hood, saw the HEMI and started blubbering--that's it! I couldn't hold back the tears anymore.
My wifey was like: "What the hell is the matter with you?" I just pointed at the HEMI on the TV, and said hem..muh.muh....
Chick flick? Tear-jerker? Nothing. Not a drop. My eyes are as dry as a cat's fart. But Overhaulin?

I wanted to see more of the Challenger myself :icon996:
Nice Roadrunner, but I don't like how they did the stripes in the back. Around the tail lights was ot so bad, but the taper in the center between the stripes just did not flow well to me :dunno:

F!!!! you mean I missed new crap for "who wants to be a Hilton"????? suma beetch!!
Hope I can catch it Thursday night!
When "the mark" popped that hood, saw the HEMI and started blubbering
My wife came in about that time and said "Who is he, and why is he crying?" I said, (with glistening eyes myself) :crying: "That's his car." She said "He's crying over a car?!?" I said "I'd be bawling like a baby!"
Part of the appeal to that show is the fact that someone thinks enough of the "mark" and his/her car hobby to have this great thing done for them. I mean, the lady last night bought her husband the car to begin with! My wife just wishes I would "sell the stupid thing". :nopity:

I am right there with ya Steve but it was Rides for me. The best one yet. Foose would have to be on the top of my list of people to hang out with. His passion for family and cars is amazing.

I have to agree with you Mike. Chip is a pretty amazing guy both family and business. I bet Boyd is just a boiling over all his air time!!! My wife caught me teary-eyed when Chip and his dad were together.
Question is.....Can anyone top that build? The total cost of the build had to be huge! Inginuity takes cubic dollars to implement. I have never seen a "Total" package put together for a car before, every small detail was thought out and covered which just shows how good the Foose team really is.

i think foose's shop rate is 55/hr...so with about 10,000 hours in it... thats $550,000 + parts/materials. however i got the "impression" that it was more like a partnership car.... and the guy was only technically the owner.

I was fortunate to catch both Rides and Overhaulin last night. I must say that Chip is "The Man"! Down to earth kind of guy, humble and damn can he build cars! Did anyone notice Charlie, former employee of Boyd, working on the rod? I also heard a few other ex-Boyd workers now work for Foose. On Overhaulin, I too had a little teary-eye moment when Mark saw his car and the engine compartment with the brand new Hemi and just started crying. The Overhaulin guys replaced alot of sheetmetal on that convertible. I was surprised they finished the car in 7 days.

I was really moved by rides last night. I love Chip anyway but the way he talks about cars just inspires the crap out of me. I've always thought of cars as the part of you that doesn't like to talk but sure as hell says a lot. Chip cries alot but how can you blame him? So much heart and soul must be overwhelming when it comes to fruition.....I also love his continued gratitude and aknowledgment of his father. Sometimes it's just amazing how quickly some people forget who got them going to begin with...............
....I have some phone calls to make. :candle:

In another Rides episode, Chip was asked how much the 35 Chevy Master cost to build and he said 70/hr, and a chance him to build you want ever you want. Basically saying a driver for 6 digits, or a Riddler winner for 7. Many cars are worthy of the Riddler, the question is, can anybody beat Chip head to head? I doubt it.

My wife "looked" for the tear in my eye when the mark popped the hood and then laughed at me when she saw one... my only reponse...
"But... but... it has a Hemi in it!" :crying:
V/R,
Ty
p.s. The way I see it... they've got Extreme Home Makeover and we have Overhaulin'!
p.s.s. Foose rocks! I loved the Boyd cutout watching Charlie in the paint booth!!! That was great comedy! Although I'm sure Boyd won't think it was funny... I saw "Beatle Bailey" helping Charlie too...
p.s.s.s. One final thought... I bet Chip doesn't pick all his past builds like Boyd did!

Anyone else remember the 69 Firebird Foose built while in college?
His own personal car? Pewter fade, flush mounted glass etc in the late 80s?? I still have that in a mag somewhere...

:grouphug: :crying: I'm glad I'm not the only one that tears up at the car shows! I'm not much of a tough guy tho, Folger's commercials make me cry. The worst is when your trying to not to let your wife know and you get that gasp of air cuz you've been trying to hold it back and be extra quiet.

I just got done watching it....sweet Road Runner. They must have moved Rides to a different time slot because Miami Ink taped after Overhaulin'. Damn....does anyone know when Rides airs again?
Also....did anyone else notice that Courtney was absent from that episode?
Where is she?

Admin- this weepy thread should be killed. And so should overhaulin if that long-legged skinny oscar-nominee leaves the show.

The Goodguys give-A-way car is the pearl orange Unique Performance 69 Camaro Pro-Touring car discussed elsewhere.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
Foose has shown a propensity towards both muscle car and street rod builds, while Boyd and crew stay focused on "easier" kit based street rods.
Standard Marketing 101, Chapter 1, Paragraph 1: "Know your demographics." Muscle cars are hot, so Goodguys is trying to get with the program, so:
Out with the old: Boyd & Street Rods
In with the new: Foose & Muscle Cars
I almost forgot: It doesn't hurt that Unique appears to have an ungodly amount of money to throw around.

You guys crack me up! I guess it's cause I can relate to not wanting the wife to see the tears and think I'm nuts. LOL
I saw the car at Fresno Autorama and spoke with Blackie (Owner of the show), He mentioned that the build cost was $1.6 MM. Allot of the cost was incurred during the last few months. 20 guys working 20 hrs days, with the OT. it adds up quickly. The detailing cost alone was $50,000.00
