Just went through a 6.0 with low miles got it in the car (73 Z28). Cranked it the other night all was good started it this morning and no oil pressure. I dont think the oring for the pickup is pinched but might be the bypass in the pump sticking? I have a Mast oilpan with BRP mounts trying to get the pan off with it in the car seems all most impossible. I have removed the drivers side mount in a effort to raise the engine up enough to clear the sub frame with no luck. Will the this come out and if so can I get to the pump? Thanks

You should be able to get to the pump without removing the pan. I have done several cam swaps on C5's and F bodys and removed the pump fairly easily. I loosened all the pan bolts so pan could drop down slightly giving me better access to the bolt for the pickup tube. Should be plenty of room to slide the pump off the crank. Have you confimed the oil pressure with a gauge just in case its a gauge or wiring problem?

Yes first thing I thought was the gauge. So had a manual gauge lying around and hooked it up 0psi. Looking at it once more I do not see any way the pan comes down far enough to get to anything. Are you talking about removing the front cover to get to it? On this 73 the subframe is just to close. Thanks

Ya the pump is on the end of the crank in front of the timing chain. Most of the job is done behond the front cover. Can be done without dropping the pan, just makes it harder to get to the bolt for the pickup tube. Can you pull the balancer with it in the car? If so, you should be able to get everything else off. If not, maybe left the motor slightly- just enough to clear the sub? Scott

Ok got it. The pan is close to getting out when I jack one side of the engine up but wont clear. I knew it was up there just did not know if that was the best way to get to it. What do you think about the bypass being stuck? I had great pressure and then 0.
