First things first, my name is Thomas. I have been interested in pro-touring for a while and now I have the opportunity to start a build.

Dad and I just acquired a 74 nova. No motor or trany. But I want to take my the 5.7l and 4l80e out of my 96 c10 and use that. But I don't know

Sounds Cool! After years and years of looking at classic domestic cars, I've come to a point that I've developed an appreciation of the odd-balls/less popular years of the more popular cars. IE: I like 73-76 Novas best. I like the 73-74 'Cudas best. I like the 68 and 70 Charger best. I like the 67 Camaro best. I like the 68 cutlass best. I like the 64-66 Vette the best. I like the 64 GTO best. Etc.
I think a 73-76 Nova with a grill treatment incorporating a mesh grill and 67 Camaro turn signals and perhaps 68 Cutlass or Chevelle taillights, would be aesthetically unique and clean.

Well pops has sold the nova so the quest for a good starter project is on.
