Not sure if I did the right thing or not, I have a 1967 Mustang Fastback with the FE 390 in it, I am having the TCI IFS set up installed in it with the FE Engine, I have not been able to get a straight answer from TCI
from them about the kit, they tell me they have sold over 200 kits for the FE Engine set-up, yet on 2 other sites I have joined, nobody has heard of anyone installing the kit, did I make a mistake cutting up my car?
Sal with TCI was supposed to get me the 1 guy's e-mail that has done it but Sal has not returned my call from last week, some people say that it was not the way to go, not looking to road race or drag race, just wanted to upgrade the suspenion and steering, HELP.

Thanks Pat

An FE is no big deal with the TCI setup on a mustang. I've done two of them.

No, unfortunately I lost all of my pics from a few years ago. You have much more room than the mustang with shock towers. If you expect anything to just drop in and bolt on, though, then you should not mess with yours. As with anything, there were production variances in the mustang unibody and therefore things are just a little bit different from car to car. I've seen as much as a 1/2" delta in frame rail spacing from car to car.

Oh, I know nothing is a drop in when you do things like this, just hoping to get some hints on what may need to be done, I cannot get a straight answer from TCI, come to find out, they never did do a complete install with the FE engine and trans, from what hey have told me, the engine & trans sits up higher & further back than stock and they had to modify the trans mount, but when I talked to Sal the V.P. of the company. he told me they never had a C6 trans to mount up to complete the install, so you see I am getting differeny stories to begin with, also even befre I got my kit the change the cross member for the engie.

Hi guys. I am getting ready to drop a FE in my 67 vert. I would like to know if any firewall or tunnel cutting had to be done. TCI told me no. They said long tube headers from FPA should work also. I am using the Keisler RS 600 5 speed with the small case. Anybody been there before?

Being in the business, I've realized that 95% of car guys are not on car forums. If TCI says they've sold 200+ of those kits, they probably have - they're a good company and wont mislead you.

The problem with this is, they have no one they can call and ask how they turned out, Sal said he was going to get me a e-mail address and now will not even return my calls, you would think if you sold 200 sets, someone would send them pictures or you would have some phone #'s from the people who did use them that you could call.

Update, I have talked to Sal and again & he is going to do what he can to get me some information and I am going to take pictures as I go along and forward them to Sal for his information
for the install of a FE with a C6 into a 1967 Mustang, so they have some documentation for their records.

Just an FYI, I have thier mustang IFS in my Falcon. It is set up for the ford Modulars, even though it was a custom job by yours truly, my 3v slipped in like butter this past weekend. Everything clears perfectly. I trust TCI as they have yet to steer me wrong, I would put allot of stock in what they are telling you.

I started the mock up of my engine and trans. So far things seem as advertised. You will need to drop the motor in straight down without the bell housing on. I have about 3/16" clearance from the right hand side firewall to bell housing. a ton of clearance on the left side. The measurement to the trans mount is good 17 7/8". I will fit the Keisler RS 600 to verify everything. I have a Quick Time bell housing the C6 housing may be larger? Very pleased with TCI

I will use the Keisler RS600 also behind my 428CJ in a 69 Cougar. If I am lucky I can wedge this huge motor with Hooker long tube headers without cut anything on the factory shock towers :)

Ok, we have an issue. The shifter location is 2.5" aft of the opening on the tunnel. Either the TCI setup is to far aft, the bell housing is wrong or the car shrunk in the wash. Does anyone have the measurement from back of the block to the firewall? As i stated prior the mount fits at the very aft travel of the crossmember.

Ok quick update. I modified the mounts and moved the engine forward. I have talked with Sal at TCI and they are responsive. As it turns out the TCI mounts were made wrong moving the engine back and the Keisler tranny uses a bell housing that is about 3/4" deeper than the top loader. Those combined made the issue larger. Anyway the motor and trans fit perfectly now. My hat is off the both TCI and Keisler for their concern and responsiveness to my issue.

Yes I used the new set that had the bolt holes slightly elongated.

I want to say thanks to Sal and guys at TCI. I just received the the new motor mounts. They look like they will fix the issues. I'm amazed by the quick turn around. I will do the mock up this weekend. Thanks again TCI I will use your product again on my 65 FB!

Yea they make a great product. Their customer support is awesome. I want to put a coyote in the 65 FB. Let us know how yours turns out. I hope they have engineered it so the tunnel and fire wall don't need to be cut up.

Slight threadjack, we were on I44 last week and saw a falcon that looked a lot like yours on a trailer going the opposite direction, was this you or another car with the same great taste in wheels?

That was me in our move from Texas to Wisconsin. Funny someone from the board recognized it.

Justin,
You bought that IFS kit from me almost 4 years ago. You work about as fast as I do.

I just mocked up the motor with the new motor mounts. My FPA long tube headers fit fine with the Edelbrock heads. Next thing will be the mocking the Keisler tranny. Hoping no tunnel issues will slow me down.
