Well, I guess it's a wrap. After 24 years of service I finally hung up my uniform for good. On 18 May I enjoyed a nice little retirement ceremony followed by a good lunch! It's only been two days and I'm already bored! lol

Congratulations Herb. If bored enough you can always sign back up as a civilian, that's what it seems a lot of the CG guys here do. They're always looking for someone to come to South Louisiana but no one wants to, for some strange reason. Enjoy your retirement, 2 more years before I retire from ABS and I cannot wait until that day.

Congrats on 24 years done. Enjoy your time now, you've earned it. I already completed 10.5 active USAF on the E side, I have a few more prerequisites, nursing school then back on active I go for another 10 on the O side. I can wait to stand in the same position you are in currently.

Thanks Bill! The idea of becoming a GS employee danced around in my head for about 2 minutes. I'm going to give the civilian world a try for a while and see how I like it!

Thanks! Your career sounds similar to mine, 12+ enlisted and then Officer Candidate School. Keep at it and I'm sure it will be worth it when it's all said and done!

Herb, I LOVE IT!!! Funny though because I am a civilian contractor working for the Gov. now making WAY more $ than they paid me active duty doing basically the same thing.

Congrats Herb! I retired from the AF a couple of years ago and retired life is nice. I miss some aspects of it like traveling but don't miss all of the paperwork. It is nice seeing my kids grow up everyday.
