I have been looking around at some exhaust bends to use for the 180 degree headers i plan on building for the engine I do not yet have. I plan on getting the engine within the next few weeks and then the exhaust flanges then building the dry sump oil pan and the headers. Engine is going to be a 5.7 hemi and expected power to be 400-500. I want to keep the exhaust size small to keep the gas velocity up high because I will not stop until I have the super car exhaust sound that I really want.

That got me thinking if the thickness of the pipe plays a role in what it sounds like. Seems like a thin wall will give me a higher pitch which is what I am going for. For example spd exhaust lists mild steel bends in 0.049 (18ga) and 0.065 (16ga), stainless also available in 0.035 (20ga) as well as the other two. The thinner stuff may be harder to weld but I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I still need to figure out what catalytic converters and mufflers to use but I was just thinking about the headers for rite now. Any suggestions on the rest of the system would be great tho

As for the size, I was thinking 1.5 inch for the primaries and 2.25 or maybe 2.5 after that. I am just trying to think of this as 2 250hp 4cyls instead of a 500hp regular v8
