View Full Version : Will polishing the inside of the LSA supercharger hat make a noticeable difference?

I purchased the ZL1 supercharger hat for my LSA crate motor in order to assure I will not have firewall issues in my 69 Camaro because the ZL1 hat has its intercooler lines in the front instead of the rear.

Do you suppose it would be worth polishing the inside of the hat before I put it on? Do you think that would make any appreciable difference in power? Is there any reason not to polish it?

Thanks
Lou

Not really sure, I would ask D3 but why not if you have it not assembled yet. You should buy the lid spacer too that increases capacity, if you havn't already. Bob

Just about anything you can do to help airflow in front of a PD blower is worth it.

I did not know about the availability of a spacer for the supercharger hat. I will need to look into that. I am limited in hood clearance because my build uses a modified SS hood.

We carry and have installed the Lingenfelter blower snout on the ZR1. It's a nice piece. If you're wanting to get some added power out of it, I'd go this route. When you buy their new snout, it also changes out to a new upper pulley setup. This allows for quick pulley swaps for more boost. It's a walk in the park to make 600+ RWHP and RWTQ with the LS9's 2.3L supercharger (assuming manual trans). My '10 ZR1 put 547 RWHP and 551 RWTQ down to the rear wheels in bone stock form with temporary tags still on the car.

If you need a harness, I have a new Street & Performance wire harness for the LSA/T56 set-up.
