I Really Love Pro-touring Cars.....but Due To My Health, I Must Sell My Project. All You Guys Have Helped Me Out Alot. I Must Go On This Sight About 10 Times A Day. To Make A Long Story Short, I Had My Right Foot And Ankle Amputated In January, Due To Stepping On A Lousy Finish Nail. I Got A Staft Infection. Anyway, It Is Now Healed And I Am Very Slowly Working On Walking On My Prosthetic Leg. I Have A Lowered Tahoe Which Fits Me Very Well, Especially With My Prosthetic On. I Have A 1970 Camaro, Media Blasted, Very Solid With Alot Of Aftermarket New Parts That I Will Be Selling Soon. I Would Like To Thank Camaroboy69 (adam) For All The Help He Has Given Me. I Will Still Visit This Sight Everyday And Will Learn And Help In Anyway Possible, But I Won't Let Myself Leave This Awesome Sight Do To A Slight Mishap. I Will Still Build My Pro-touring Tahoe.
That really sucks but I admire you're attitude. That will help you tremendously in an obviously trying time.

I too almost died from a staff infection. Thankfully it was (and still is) in my abdomen. and serious medication won out. I commend your attitude, keep on going. Be sure to round up the pics and stuff and post it in the "for sale" section when you are ready.

Dont give up too soon. I am 6 years post accident that left my left arm paralyzed. I do things today that i never dreamed i would be able to do after the accident. I own a motorcycle shop so imagine going to work everyday watching people enjoy something you thought you will never be able to do again. I started my car project after the accident and with help with some friends I got it to a driveable stage last summer and am enjoying it (but it needs more power). If I had two good arms it would be a 6 speed but for now it is an automatic. (i'll just have to settle for a Shrifter someday). I did the last two days of the Power Tour with it this year and plan to do the whole tour next year and drag race at g-ville and E-town. In time you will learn to deal with your prostetic and all the pain and all the other bs that goes with it. Then you will get on with your life. At first my arm was all i thought about but now it seems normal and i think about it less and less everyday. I just take a little longer to get things done than most people. I almost did like you and sold all my bikes but for some reason i kept the custom i built and occassionally i take it out for a ride. (yes i adapted it so I can ride it) Thankfully my business is successful and my brother and family helped me get through the recovery and getting my life back. So if you are able to hold on to your ride give it time you will be surprised how not handicapped you are.

I really admire the attitudes you both have about you situation. Most people in your situation would just feel pitiful for themselves. More people like you all need to be around...

Don't give up so quick. They do make things that would allow you to drive with your left foot. You have just had 6 months since surgury and the shock of what happened. Time has a way of working out things, and I would hate for you to jump the gun and get rid of your toy too quick.
My wife was in a horrible accident in 93 and spent 3 years in a wheelchair. Finally after surgury and countless hours of physical therepy and the Grace of God, she got out of the chair. So hang in there, stick around here for entertainment and let that camaro sit and collect dust for awhile. Heck, it will be worth more money next year anyway......
I know were you are coming from about visiting here every day though-LOL.
I find myself logging in 5 or 6 times daily myself. I am leaving in the morning and will be out of pocket for two weeks. A year ago, I would be dreading missing that much TV. Now it's this durn site. Surely there will be internet somewhere in N.M. LOL

Teddy,
I am terribly sorry you cant overcome this obstacle. You are the nicest and hardest working man I have ever met in my life. Working over 80hours a week and trying to deal with your leg is more inspiring than you can ever imagine to a lot of members in here including myself.
I know we have been talking a lot about if you should sell it or not. If your 100% sure then I will help you sell your parts and take the pics you need. On the other hand, if you decide to keep it I will do for you as promised and make your camaro drivable no matter what. Nothing I cant do and by now you know that too. If you really really want to drive your Camaro I promise I can make it happen. :)
Teddy I also want to thank you for everything you have done for me too.

Give it some time. Having it in the garage might just inspire you to get well faster. Think of all the cool innovations you can come up with to make your car drivable with your left leg. Those could be great applications that others like yourself could benefit from in the future. It could just make your car that "one of a kind" we are all looking to build. Good luck in the future and have a speedy recovery.

I'm going to go with the general concensus in here Teddy. Selling that car will be life getting the best of you. Don't let that happen. Remember.....where there's a will, there's a way. You keep that car and I promise you in the coming years something will work itself out and it won't be long before your rowing the gears in her again. Whatever your decision however, I wish you the best of luck and I'm glad you've decided to stay on board the site. You'll always get nothing but 100% support from all of us here....always.
Keep your chin up! :)

To sell something because you need the money is one thing and many times the right thing. To sell it because you feel your health is fading or that you will no longer be able to drive is the wrong thing. Years ago I dont think any one would have ever imagined that they could make old first and second gen cars ride, handle and go like the new cars do and yet now they do. Years ago no one would ever think of putting a t-56 six speed in an old camaro and yet... now they do. Fuel injected LT1 AND LS1 motors in an old camaro? NO WAY..... WAY!!!!!!!!
My point is technology is changing every day. It is a great time to be alive and medical and mechanical technology gets better all the time. What seems impossible right now, may not seem so impossible in time to come. If you are worried about not being able to use your foot to drive I am sure technology will make it possible. I am willing to bet someone will be able to design a hand brake or hand gas mount on a make shift steering wheel. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH THE TALENT ON THIS SITE!!! If you dont need the money, put it in the garage and FORGET ABOUT IT FOR NOW!! Concentrate on getting better and Ill bet in a short time you will be finding yourself behind the wheel of that camaro again. KEEP THE FAITH!! DONT SELL IT FOR THE WRONG REASONS!!!

Ive already mentioned in this post that if he wants to drive it I promise I can make it happen. I dont care if he wants to drive with his teeth, feet, armpit, I CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN. Its all up to him at this point. There is nothing I cant do especially when it comes to cars. They dont call us engineers for nothing. I could easily relocate the entire pedal assembly to be ergonomic for his left leg. That would be very easy.
Keep it if you can. I've seen many racers over the years sell their bikes and trailers after they get hurt only to get back into it a year later.

Back in the 80's there a was guy that had a NICE 67 Camaro.. he used to street race it all the time.
And he was paralized from the waist down.. the car was set up will all hand controls. The moral of the story is that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it!

We wish you all the best Teddy. Never be afraid to ask others for help--no matter what you decide. Maybe some of our Michigan brothers can help you shape up the Camaro so that it brings more money. Or help you build the car so that it suits your needs and fulfills your dreams.
Please keep us posted and good luck.
