Poor car had some pretty bad butchering.I would restore it. It would be cool to have knowing where it came from, and its the year I was born.

Uhh...I'm willing to bet that auction is fake and will be pulled soon? What's alarming is there are 72 bids and it is over $250,000. That does not sound right. Where's the Certificate Of Authenticity? How do we know it wasn't a Norm Armstrong or a Nick Armstrong that owned it? That same car would not fetch that much totally restored and unless he was driving around on the moon with it I doubt his association would drive it that much higher.
I also have severe doubts that he even owned a Corvette. Although most of the Astronaut's in the Apollo Program had Corvette's, Neil Armstrong was a conservative family man and drove a station wagon back in those days (I know this because I am an enthusiast of the Mercury, Gemini, & Apollo programs). I don't remember ever hearing of Neil Armstrong owning or even driving a Corvette.

From what read I was not going anywhere as far bids go, but them there was a story about it on Yahoo and it went nuts from there. Not saying it's authentic just stating why it jumped so high so fast. Also I agree that the bids are fake or at least if someone hit the reserve it won't be paid for. Who knows
