Looking to buy a new set of heads for my LS1 what would be your recommendation?

A lot of people like Patriot Performance's heads. I have also heard good things about the new GM Performance Parts LS6 CNC heads (243's that are CNC'd either for or by GM Performance Parts).

On ls1tech it seems lately a lot of people like prc heads or having their heads ported by advanced induction. The best heads would probably be mast motorsports rectangular port small bore heads, idk if they the best but they have best flow numbers.

AFR 205 or 210. I did quite a lot of research before buying a pair of these. Perfect for the 5.7 litre LS1.

AFR 205 or 210. I did quite a lot of research before buying a pair of these. Perfect for the 5.7 litre LS1.

This is what I would get. It seems like heads from certain companies have to use bigger intake runners in order to get decent flow, like 220 plus cc's.

Afr 205s for a 5.7 liter ls motor. They are the best on the market hands down. Thick decks, quality stainless valves, nice springs and hardware, and one of the best flowing heads. If you have the cash go AFR.

If you are looking for a more budget oriented ported head then patriot, prc, TEA, scoggin dickey and others have Cnc ported stock castings for around 1200 bucks. Most use stock valves with upgraded springs and hardware.

Head selection all depends on what you want to do with the car. Drag race, road race, street, rpm range, blower, nitrous, ect. What is your application? Engine size, hp goals, usage, rpm limit, power adder?

AFRs are good TFS 215s are good too.

It all depends on your budget and goals. On a 5.7 heads and cam build I'd go with out of the box 243/799 (LS6/LS2/5.3HOs all the same port design) castings and some good springs as I would want to build something bigger later. I would spring for the aftermarket castings for the big motor AFR230s or TFS 235s. If I had extra $ during the heads and cam build I'd spring for a FAST intake that would be used on the stroker.

A good heads and cam matches the 2, it is the overall combination.
