Pro Touring AMC?

New to the forum and wondering if there are any AMC guys out there? I have a 68 Javelin that I am starting a build on. I AM going with the pro touring style, function, reliability, ect but I've never done it before. Has anyone out there done a PT set up on a first gen Javelin? It is a solid car that was Garage stored since a frame up restoration 13 years ago. Right now it has a 350 small block with 4 bolt mains, GM Performance Center heads and a great cam. Also has a Muncie M21, and a Ford 9" out back so I know there are aftermarket suspension options out there. I'm leaning towards a torque arm and watts link. I have an AMC 401 in the works that should get me around 450 HP at the crank when done. Really excited about the build and looking forward to your inputs.

Guessing you did not clink the link in the previous post. Do so and your world will change. And yes there are several AMC builds that have been done. Including Javelins.

It may be slightly blasphemous to a hardcore AMC guy but Jimi Day's AMX is super cool, fast, reliable and capable and should have a full feature in Popular Hot Rodding very soon. It debuted at SEMA, competed the same week at the OUSCI and has since done a few track days with a ton more events on the schedule. That AMX looks amazing. Looks like theres gonna be a lot of fab work to get a good IFS in the Javelin. Cant wait to start.

we have a 1975 matador that we were going to build,but it got ditched because we couldn't get the suspension the way we wanted it without doing a chassis. still have the car,got a rendering done and all!

Yeah I'm not trying to replace my front end either. I guess with well rebuilt trunnions with poly bushing and HD progressive springs guys have been doing pretty well. I hope it works.

It is a 69 Javelin, ls2 powered with most likely a t-56, 8 point roll bar, Scott Mock C6 front sub, 3 link rear with panhard bar, Moser full floater 9", ridetech t/a coilovers and forgeline zx3r 17" wheels.

I've seen your build. I'd love to do that and probably some day will but I cant swing that kind of money on Navy pay. I bet that going to be pretty amazing handling. Looking forward to watching your progress.

The Control freak stuff looks great but again that's a lot of money on my pay. I'll be able to use 17X10" wheels with the trunnions so I'm gonna see how it handles with the upgrades listed above. A new front end will be in its future though.
