I've been thinking about welding up the gas door on my 69 Camino and somehow installing a nice aluminum/stainless gas door set-up. What do you guys think? I've never seen an El Camino or Chevelle with something like this. Anyway, can anyone post photos or links to something that would look good on my car? Could Larry's new gas cap assy be adapted to my application without re-inventing the wheel?
Thanks for any info.

How about the pop up style that is on all the new custom choppers? :dunno:

Some of the gas caps I had in mind are like the midyear Corvettes,Eleanor Mustang, etc.

This seems to be the next big thing. I was going to put a motorcycle cap on mine, but it seems like everyone is doing it now.

This site isnt helping my orginality any ;)

Which cap set-up are you referring to? Has anyone noticed the flush cap used on Dodge Ram trucks? They look kinda neat and the price is right at around $100.

I might go with something like this:

I just found this on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05-Ford-F150-Flareside-Chrome-Billet-Fuel-Gas-Door_W0QQitemZ7985871147QQcategoryZ33654QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

I really like Larry's set-up too if he can just "Get'er done". :smoke:

I also like the looks of the Hummer H2 doors, but they are so big and you would have to grind off the H2 emblem.

I'm planning on using an Audi TT brushed aluminum filler door on my Datsun project... but it costs about $400 from the dealer and there don't seem to be many used examples for sale...

Aren't those curved slightly? I really liked the look of them but didn't see one up close. Everytime I am around one, I forget to look...just remembering off of pics.

$400? OUCH! Maybe I need to make my own.

The ones from the Mitsu Eclipse are curved, but I'm pretty sure the Audi piece is flat.

Yeah, I'm not about to shell out $400 either... but if I can find a nice used one for under $100 I'll be getting it.

Anybody check out the gas door available from Mazda? Its an oval shape and almost flat if memory serves. I've seen them on the Mazda 3, they cost about 150.00.

Can you post a link or photo,Tom? I'd like to see what one of the Mazda doors look like.
