OK....so I have this idea about a custom grille/bumper for my '68 Firebird. I dont like how the bumper hangs out so far from the body, but I DO like how it looks. And I would never want to chop it's beak off---so I have this idea about narrowing and setting the bumper inside the hood and fender lines. Might even have to fabricate the whole thing. Idea #2 would be some kind of camaro blend. Use the firebird hood and fenders, a camaro grille, and cut the center section from the firebird bumper and add in front of the camaro grille to finish off the beak. Thought of the camaro grille only because the grille section should be taller and wider than the forebird's. The bumper narrows all that down.

Bottom line I am going for a Firebird shape, camaro look, and keep the beak-------any help/ideas???

While I love when people get creative and try to combine ideas from one car to another. Like putting 69 turn signal/parking lights and other 67-9 F-bodies. And truly believe in the "It's your car build it to make you happy" line of thought. I've been an owner of a 67 Firebird since 1977 and LOVE the look of the 67/8 bumbper and grill and would never change it. It's going to be tough to move the bumbper back as much as on a Camaro. But could probably be done.

But do keep us updated on your progress. Am curious how your mod turns out. I plan to do the previously mentioned parking light mod on my 67 'Bird. So mod away.

thanx.......trying to find a decent rusty bumper to experiment with......then at lease I won't be ruining a good part. Also doing the 69 side lights...already have camaro fender extentions that came with the car to delete the 68 bug markers
