My plan is to narrow my housing and install Mosers flush mount 12 bolt ends and using the a20 tapered bearings on some new axles. I understand that I may have to spacer out the LS1 backing plate in order to place it in the rotor correctly. My question is if the a20 bearing will fit behind the LS1 backing plate or will I have to machine it out some for clearance for the seal? Also will the Z51 abutments bolt to the LS1 backing plate ears? Is there a demension I can give to Moser for the housing end to axle flange so that I won't have to spacer out the backing plate? I've searched and read many posts here and on other sites and have gathered that this should work but thought maybe I am missing something. :worship:

Yes...and no. Due to the shallower dimension of the C6 Z51 rotors relative to the LS1 rotor, you won't be able to make both the Z51 caliper arrangement and LS1 F-body parking brake work at the same time, since spacing out the backing plate to engage the drum with the shoe would mess up the caliper spacing and visa versa. The bearing question is therefore a moot point.

So if I use my LS1 backing plates I'm limited to the stock 12" rotors?

Not sure what you have that would require more than 12" brakes in the rear?

Well first off I plan to autocross and road race car when complete. Well at least events in the northwest. Secondly I plan to use 18" wheels and feel the 12" brakes look smallish in them. And lastly and most importantly I had an opportunity to work on a saleen mustang and during the test drive the performance and handling was ok to me but the brakes really impressed me. I realize my car will be heavier than most all unibody cars and would like it to stop well.

That is correct if you want to have a functional parking brake.
