Power steering hard line hitting the head.

I assume this is the correct section, and steering and suspension generally go together.

I installed aluminum heads on my SBO this winter, and now the metal hard line for power steering return is hitting the head. This isn't an issue on big blocks, because the additional deck height lifts the heads above the lines.

I need a good 1/4 - 1/2" of clearance, you can see where the return hard line was hitting the head while I tried to install it.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this? I already gave the line a few love taps with a hammer, and it helped, but not nearly enough.

Can always reshape the line with a tube cutter, tube bender and a flaring tool.
Assuming the line is long enough.

The picture is dark, so it's hard to tell... but there doesn't appear to be a fitting on this line to the pump body. Unless it's secured from the inside.

I see now, that line does not come off.

you're probably going to need a different res. if thats not in the budget maybe you could cut the hard line and run the rubber hose higher up to the res, since thats the low pressure side it souldn'd have any issues with a longer rubber line, if it were mine i'd try to get a different res just to avoid any drama down the road.
