Does anyone know of a source with rack dimensions and specs for different vehicles? It's relatively easy to find total width. But not to find inner tie rod width, ratios, etc.

I'm gonna watch this thread. The only way I can get some dimensions is to call guys I know at GM or Saginaw. It's not easy!

Well, you're no help Matt! ;) I know what you mean. You can damn near look up how to build an atom bomb on the internet. But there is NO data on racks that I can find. You almost have to know what you're looking for to be able to find it.

Im interested as well, it's been a ton of online research and footwork until now.
Ratios are usually easier to find, I've had good luck with online resources such as chilton. (I have access through an ID from my local library). It generally involves finding a suitable car and looking it up by model. Widths have beem a A LOT more difficult. I'm lucky enough to live in an area with a pretty decent sized parts warehouse and made friends on the other side of the counter. Ill start out by finding a car with a relatively similar width with a ratio I'm interested in and get someone to transfer one in to measure.

Went to orielys auto parts today, in the cardone catalog. Just need to find vehicle you want, get part # and go to cross reference chart. It has rack width, mounting width, length of threads on inner tierods, and rack to steering column mount dimensions.

As a fabricator, that's still not what I'm really looking for. What I really am interested in is inner width, ratio, and travel. There's only a few manufacturers of racks and you would think the few manufacturers might have this type of info commonly available. But alas, no, not so much.

Shane, I should also tell you that I have some good contacts at Mavel, who remanufactures thousands of steering racks. I once asked them if I could get a list of steering racks within a range of inner ball widths. They said they don't have such information recorded, which I kinda already knew.
