CALLING ALL TUNERS!!!!!!!

I am the manager of my company's fleet of 64 Chevrolet Express Vans, Silverado's, Colorado's and a couple Equinox's. I need to see if there is a way to govern the engine so that the max speed is 75mph. Any ideas/options would be very helpful.

If you are a sponsor on here and have a guaranteed/proven/reliable solution...then alot of $$ is coming your way!!

I am 100% serious with this. My boss just threw this task on me and I'm trying to find solutions.

Thanks!!

Not sure about governing a fleet, but you might want to consider fleet GPS tracking. then you can monitor all the vehicles and know who exceeds the 75mph limit. plus keep tabs on all their routes and locations at all times

they all already have GPS tracking.

Then you should be able to spot all speeders. Isn't there a way to tune in a speed limiter?

I know all vehicles in different countries are limited, Japan is like 108 mph.

I'm pretty sure that it can be done through the OBDII port using a hand-held tuner of some sort. Guys over in the Mustang world have used such things to run the speed limiter out beyond (revised) vehicle capabilities just to get it out of the way. Ought to be able to use the same thing to choke off the fun at any lower speed you choose, and I can't imagine that this capability is limited to Fords. Most any of the aftermarket ECM/PCM reflash tuner businesses ought to be able to work up something.

Found this (http://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l-1996-2004-modular-mustang/667959-105-mph-governor.html) very quickly. Look at post #13 in particular. For GM, the variable names might be different, but I'm sure that they're there someplace.

I only know a very little about this stuff so I don't know for sure, but it's possible that you might need one hand-held tuner per vehicle.

That's exactly what I was thinking of, albeit in less detail.

Penske rental vans used to be restricted & may still be restricted, you might take a look at them.

You can program it with a Tech 2 and someone that knows what they're doing.

EFI Live FlashScan V2 is a programmer that we use a lot in the Duramax community to eliminate the factory 95mph limit. There is no reason it would not work to lower the speed limit as well. EFI Live will work with any GM product. A programmer is used to write tunes for the tuners and is more flexible than any tuner.

I've tested doing something similar with HPTuners on a 2002 Camaro and 2003 Avalanche. Most GM PCM's that I've worked with have a fuel shutoff that is driven by MPH.

this is what we are going to go with...
