I just finished putting my disc brake conversion on...its not a kit, it was pieced together. After putting the rotor on the legth of the stud remaining is slightly less than 1". I would call it 15/16". Where can I find information on how long I need them to be in order to fit properly/be safe?
Currently I have Weld wheels and lug nuts. It looks like they will bolt up no problem, but I dont think it means it will be safe if they are in deed too short.

IMO, if you used open end lug nuts, you should have enough that at least a couple threads come out.

To continue that definition..... it is thought that you should have atleast half of the diameter of the stud, portruding past the end of the nut itself.
So in other words, a few exposed threads past the end of the nut should suffice.

I guess the problem with using that to determine if I have enough stud is that the lugs used with my Weld Pro stars are not open ended, they are mag shank style lugs. Its been so long since I took them off the car I cant remember if the studs ever were long enough to pass completely through the wheels. There is a washer between the wheel and lug. I dont have my camera available to send a picture at the moment. Here is a link to the wheels on jegs with an illustration of the lugs.

I believe that NHRA regulations require at least 1 1/2 times the diameter of the stud engagement within the lugnut.

I believe that NHRA regulations require at least 1 1/2 times the diameter of the stud engagement within the lugnut.
That is an accepted standard for minimum thread depth for tapped holes using machine screws. In your case, if you have 1/2" studs, you need 3/4" thread engagement.
So, how do you tell if you have a blind nut? Count the number of revolutions the nut spins before seating. For 1/2"-20 pitch studs, it will take 20 revolutions of the nut to engage 1" of thread. 3/4" x 20 rev/in = 15 revolution.

Following the advice I have been given here I am sure my wheel studs are long enough at just short of 1". The way the lugs work almost the entire length of the stud will be engaged. I will still count the revolutions when I put the wheels back on tonight.
THANKS A TON FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!
