Then this swap with the drivetrain from the wrecked GN to this car started.

And how she is this week. Over the last year and a half after i burned up the trans it took a couple times taking it back to get all the kinks worked out. The used "good" turbo turned out to be not so good. She didnt like the new chip or the new oil feed line for the turbo. And the best mod and worse job was converting to vacuum brakes from the power master. But i think she is good to go. Ran like a champ last night.

Beautiful car! That was always one of my favorite paint schemes. Was your car originally a 307, or did you just replace one turbo 6 with another?

Agreed on the vacuum brake swap...I must have done a dozen of those over the years, and not a single one was done as part of my shop (all friends and club members). I was a longtime member of the Turbo Buick Club of Atlanta. I still have an '87 GN that is being built for my son as his first car. and I'm currently building an '83 T-Type for myself.

This is an original T Type WH1. Just pulled the stock drivetrain for my built engine/trans that came out of my wrecked GN.

Lucky kid you got there. Teach him to drive early, lol.

Most definitely. My father gave it to him recently (he's only 13 now), so we have plenty of time to go through it. We're rebuilding more for durability and better braking/handling, and adding power later when he is ready. He has already been told: one moving violation, and its parked. That said, we're planning lots of track time!

Thats sweet. My kids are 5 and 3 and they already know which car they want to ride in and want to go fast.

Didn't realize the WH1s came with chrome bumpers, honestly not sure if I've ever actually saw one before. They really are a lot less common than the GN's...

I like the color scheme too, I really thought about going with something similiar but didn't trust my abilities to pull off anything fancy.

What all have you done to the suspension and brakes?

Has a 1LE front sway bar, rear is stock for now. I had a ATR bar but sold it to buy a Helwig bar. Has Moog springs and KYB shocks. Brakes are stock with ceramic pads and braided stainless lines, and just swapped over to vacuum.

I believe all WH1's had chrome bumpers. This car is rarer than the GN, only 463 designer package cars were made in 86.
