I have a 69 firebird with a 98 trans am motor and trans.(l460e) In it.
I just lost 2nd gear and to replace the trans I want would be $ 2100.
I can get a 2004 motor and transmission ecm for $4000
Will that motor have bigger heads ?
Would this be an easy swap? My ecm is a 98
Any help would be appreciated advantages vs disadvantage

What's the 2004 engine out of? There were no more Camaro's so it has to be a GTO or a Caddy engine. I think the Caddy's only got LS6s and I am not sure about the 2004 GTOs. Also, if the engine is out of a one of those cars, the transmissions will be be different since both had IRS. I believe they come with fixed yokes. None of these issues are insurmountable, but it's not exactly a direct swap.
