Hi guys. I'm Jarred, friends call me Hot Rod. I'm 25 and from a small town in Red Oak Texas, not far south of DFW and found this site looking for some tech answers.
I have a '70 LeMans project I'm currently building an engine for.

People may dislike it but I'm going with a small block. Most likely a 406 unless something changes. Budget/hot rod build. Nothing orginal about the car when I got it so I'm just gonna keep it that way.
My main questions is what will I have to switch on the car to run a small block and will all 68-72 chevelle parts work? mounts, headers, exhuast, suspension etc?

I signed up hoping this site is a general car guy's site. I'm not a big fan of the pure pontiac(I callem chevy haters) crowd and thought since I'm one of those guys I'll need a general car guys site, lol.
I like all GM cars and makes so Idc which engine you have as long as its all GM as the old saying goes. :D

Look forward to the useful info and fellowship. :)

OH and a pic:

Its a 10-feet car. Looks good in pics but is still very much a project with lots of work needed. I love it though! :D

Jarred,

Welcome to Pro-Touring.com! You are going to be amazed at the variety of cars, guys and wisdom here!

Your car is a great platform to start with as it is the same as the Chevelle which has great support in the aftermarket. We offer a complete line of suspension parts for it no matter what direction you are taking or budget.

You can't deny the "bang for the buck" that the Chevy powerplants offer, so look around here for info and I'm sure you'll find it.

Jarred,

No problem....... do you have a 406 already? Does the car have a 10 bolt rear?

Yeah I have a 406 ready to use. Just need pistons for street use. Pump gas.

Im not sure about the rear. Havnt really looked yet. It's an open rear that's for sure.

Welcome to the forum Jared. Im just north of Dfw by TMS.

Anything as far as suspension, headers and chassis will fit your lemans. Good looking car by the way. I'm a little biased since I have a Chevelle. Ha

Cool. Thanks! Yeah I am a new fan of a-bodies. Sporty performance and looks but rides great and lots of room. :)

Welcome. No problems with "purists" in this site. People tend to be pretty open minded. I've got a gutted 72 LeMans that i'll be whipping into shape come this fall/winter...or as we say in texas late summer and christmas.

LOL. Never heard that one. Thats great. :)

I changed my mind though, sorta. Picked up a brand new(well remanufactured) 383 shortblock for 1900$ with flat top pistons, 480 lift cam, lifters, oil pump, gaskets and dampner. Cant wait to peice this thing together. ;)
