wilwood master? 1st gen camaro rod to pedal lenth ?

i just did all c5 brakes and wilwood manual master cyl, i took measurements of stock manual booster rod and moded the one that came with wilwood unit to make it same lenth so i could still retain washer and clip. It looks to me that rod is to long know. what did you do for master to pedal rod? thanks kevin

What bore MC are you using? I installed a 7/8" bore Wilwood MC for my manual C6 Z06 brake setup and it has a captured push rod in the MC pistion. I did not have to modify anything and I reused the clevis yoke from the stock push rod. What this means though is that the rod has to be connected/disconnected at the pedal rather than the rod coming out of the MC.

Easiest thing to do is just make it super adjustable... I had to cut an inch off of mine, but first I cut more threads onto the rod. Then I used a 3/8-24 rod end and nut (to lock it down)....

Did you weld more threaded rod onto the master cylinder push rod?

I'm not sure about the 1st gen stuff since I'm working on a Ford, but when I installed my wilwood 7/8 tandem master cylinder, the new pushrod was also too long (by about an inch). The problem is, the wilwood captured pushrod only has an inch of threads on it..... So here is what I did:

1. Install wilwood pushrod into wilwood MC and compress piston to bottom of travel and mark the pushrod at the washer to determine the maximum travel of the pushrod.

2. Remove wilwood pushrod from master cylinder and cut threads further down on the pushrod (to your mark).

3. Drill out old pushrod stud or new hole if not present (for those switching from power to manual, the hole needs to be higher on the pedal).

4. Cut desired length off of pushrod so that a 3/8-24 rod end can be threaded onto the pushrod.

5. Set to desired pushrod length and install.....
