Hi all,

recently the rear main finally gave up the ghost on my Firebird, and at the same time one of the calipers seized. So I'm thinking of bitting the bullet and seeing if I can do all the work that needs to be done, and the work I want to have done.

So for estimates sake, what are those builds going for these days where the car is striped, rewired, new dashboard including extra gauges, engine rebuilt, new A/C, convert to standard transmission, mini tubed, new big brakes, new carpeting/insulation, and new weather stripping...whew...?

I'm guesstimating about 50k. Am I even close??

Thanks.

So i'm barely there huh?? The bodywork is all done, as is the engine bay. So thats a major step forward. The interior is mint also, so its just a matter of putting in the new dash with the new gauges, and the A/C behind the dash.

How much higher do you think it would go?

Thats really a tough questions, because there are so many variables. What kind of shape is the body and what kind of pain job are you wanting. The price for the quality of parts selected can vary drastically and then there is labor which can be expensive. I think you may be hard pressed to have a car totally built by someone else for 50K with the modifications listed. I would bet you are looking at spending at 30K+ in parts, if you don't get crazy with the motor.

You really need to sit down and start pricing out some of the parts and you will get a better idea of what it may cost.

Well, like I said the body is already done to a very high standard. You can see it in the cars section/firebird/manuel scettri. Pretty much the only thing that would have to be done body wise would be to align the front fenders/hood/nose.

So its pretty much the transmission instalation, rewiring, new A/C, new dash, brakes etc...
