Hey everybody,
hope i can get some help here. .
I am trying to get my 88 Monte SS ready for the power tour this year. one of the last things that i need to do is get a set of wheels and tires.
If possible i would like to utilize my 285-40-18 bfg kdw's in the rear. and i can buy the correct size for front.
My car is not mini tubbed just stock but i have everything to lower it.
I am looking at getting a set of Z06 replicas or ZR1 replicas due to the price, this will be a temporary wheel till i get more coin.
I would like to know what you guys have ran, or are running and any pics would ben awesome. I am trying to see the options i have sizes
thank you
please help

I ran a 285/35/18 on the back of my GN with an 18x9.5 rim. Backspacing may have been 4 1/4" but im not possitive. Since your going to have more sidewall you could squeeze an 18x10" with @4.75" backspace. Double check theses backspace #'s but they should be close.

I'm running a 285/40/18 on a 18x9.5 with the equivalent of 4 3/4" backspacing and even with rolling the fender lip I am VERY close on the outside edge of the tire. I would recommend 5" of backspacing and you still may need to roll the fender lips.

I'm running Nitto 555 in 285/40/17 on 17x9.5 5.0 bs, and a 5/16" spacer on both sides.
Mine are extremely tight to the frame/inner fenders, but no contact yet.
The BFG KDWII is slightly more tapered in the corners, and may give you that extra hair for them to fit.
I know you are running a taller tire, but the fender lip would be my main concern IMO.
Here's a comparo pic of KDW 275/40/17 and the Nitto 285/40/17 just for kicks, not really an aplples to apples comparison, but I hope that helps. The BFG should make a better fit IMO.

Here is an idea of where the 285 ends up lining-up in the fender (it looks awfully high, but it just came off the jack)
