Crazy!.....back when they used to think it was best to be thrown out the vehicle clear of a wreck.

Trust me, not everyone walked away. There is a BBC documentary titled "Grand Prix the Killer Years". It is a very sobering look at the lack of safety in cars and tracks and how many drivers and spectators died in the early years of formula 1 racing. There are several interviews of famous drivers one of them is Jackie Stewart and at one point he and his wife counted 57 people they knew who had been killed in racing accidents. Anyone who has anything to do with high performance driving on any level should consider this a must see. It gives one a greater appreciation for how we got to where we are today in terms of safety in motorsports.

This stuff is rough! Hate to see it after having a decent wreck myself. It's still better to get hurt or killed doin something you love then just sitting on the couch all the time because what you want to do is too dangerous

Wish I had some Videos of the Stuff I have lived through ( Dukes of Hazzard flying into a Lake - long story, barrel-rolling a Formula-Ford,, getting hit by the longest Limo I've ever seen,)
