Hey guys I'm kinda new to this whole turnin' corners thing. I'm looking at Nitto NT555 tires in 255/45/18 and 295/45/18 to go on 18X9 and 18X10 wheels. My question is, how's the wear on the Nittos? I'm looking primarily at street driving maybe 5-6k miles per year. I sure would like to get a few years out of a set. I've been running BFG Radial T/As and they are not anywhere near worn out but are over 10 years old and it's (way past) time to replace them.
Can you lend me some assistance here?
Thanks,

The 555's wear very nicely on the street. I abused a set pretty hard on the autocross on my Nova and they held up pretty good.

I've had Nitto 555's on a few cars now and really like the way they ride and handle (look good too). Wear is excellent, you'll have no problem getting several years out of them.

On a separate but related note: We looked at a new set of Nitto's this last weekend (I believe NT555) at a swap meet and they were made in America. We have a set that are made in Japan, so they must be producing some here. Production location and hobby support are the reasons we have been so committed to BFG KDW's.

Nitto 555 tires last a very long time. I've got a set on my '09 CTS-V with 22K miles on them, and they still have a lot of tread depth. I've run them on many cars, excellent daily driver tires.

I'm not sure if this means anything... but, BFG T/A radials NT555 both have a Tread wear rating of 300.

Thank you for the feedback! Since my car is a very low buck project when I spend money it needs to be spent right. I think this change to the car will be a big step in the right direction.

I have 25,000 miles on one of my rear nt555s, it needs to be replaced though cause the middle of the tire is worn down. The other one is newer cause the quarter lip ate it. The tire with 25,000 miles has been to the drap strip probably about 5 times and was autocrossed a couple of times.

I have a 99 Ford Lightning that I daily drive with Nitto tires. After 25K miles, they still look like they will last another 10-15k miles. I recently bought a set of Nitto Invos for my mustang. I'm not really a big fan on the tread design but the reviews seem pretty good and every nitto tire I've had has been good ones.

nitto nt555 are probably going to be your new go-to tire. their excellent in handling and are sticky tires. you can get 30k out of them most times.
