Has anyone used there crossmembers? I'm looking to get one for the 700R4 in my 68 Camaro.
Also, what should I look to spend to get a 4L60E or 4L80E in and working in my car? Used is fine. Wire harness and such, flexplate? Starter?
Thanks!
Can't decide if I want to spend the money and upgrade auto's or wait and get a 5/6 speed manual. That paddle shifter has got me thinking....maybe cheaper to go with an auto.

Youll need a flex plate, torque converter, trans, and a control for the trans unless you go non eletronic/full manual. I have no idea what a cross member will cost but some shopping on the net should turn up all the other stuff youll need.

I have their crossmember and have had no problems with it. I got mine 3 years ago or so and it bolted right in. Hope this helps you.

you can get a new 4l60e w/o controller for less than a nice reworked 700r4
seems like i read there were issue fitting a 4l80e because of its larger size. don't know that for a fact though.
there also a 4l65e

I got one for a 700 and had to add and subtract some material from it to get it to fit correctly....

I'm glad to see that you are interested in our paddle shifter. Electronic overdrive conversion is substantially less expensive than a six speed manual conversion--but still a lot of $$$.
-Full T56 conversion for an automatic car (i.e. TH350) runs about $4500-$5000 and up.
-While that same TH350 car can be upgraded to a bad ass pro-touring electronic, manumatic, paddle shifted car for about $3000-$3400 as follows:
1) Stage 1 4L60E and converter: $1350 (sourced from this website: PATC (http://www.transmissioncenter.net/StockTransShip.htm#GM%20Transmissions) )
2) TCI T-Com Trans Controller & harness: $659.95 TCU and TPS adapter from Jegs (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=23374&prmenbr=361)
3) TPS Sensor adapter (if carbureted): $200 (subtract if fuel injected)
4) Crossmember: $150 (Bowtie Overdrives)
5) SFI Flexplate $85 (Jeg's)
6) Modify (Shorten) Driveshaft $250 (local)
7) Paddle Shifter brushed Finish (Jegs) $539.99 The Shrifter from Jeg's (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=479224&prmenbr=361)
Total with controller and paddle shifter $3234.94
If fuel injected subtract $200 as you will splice into existing TPS. If more than 450HP-500HP FWHP expect to add about $300 for additional trans mods.
Feel free to call or email if you have any questions

Edit: p.s. I did reuse my TH350 crossmember. I just chopped the ends off (narrowed) and redrilled. But I have an ARDF (pre-Wayne Due style) clip, so I'm not sure how that will translate to your car if equipped with a stock clip.

Currently, I have a 700R4 behide a 350. But it has a 400 crossmember and sits way too low.
So before spending money I'll have to spend again later, I wanted to make sure.
Are the flexplates the same? How much longer is the 4L60E than the 700R4?
Thanks!

If you have a 700R4 now then it will work with a 60E.

Theyre the same trans (generally speaking) so theyre the same length.
700R4=4L60
4L60E=Electronically controlled 4L60

How about the Bowtie Overdrive trannies? Im looking to buy a 700r4 set-up from them unless someone has bad feedback. It looks like I can get the stage 2 trans, crossmember, TV set-up and torque converter for around 1800. Doesnt seem too bad. Any opinions?

Don't use their 4L80E crossmember; about 8" off from fitting! Apparently they think the 4L80E and 4L60E use the same crossmember. I tried to explain that the 80 has the mount on the very end of the trans, at least 7-8" further back. They just said to return it (I eat the freight) but they still will continue to sell them for the 80E's.

Jody,
What are you using now for a 4L80e crossmember? I've been looking for a bolt in crossmember for a 4L80e in to my 1969 camaro.

I have a Bowtie overdrive 700r4 crossmember and also had to modify it, by extending one side to fit. The center support was not welded in the center correctly. I called them and they basically blew me off, so I just modified it myself.

I had help from someone here to build my own crossmember for my 200-4R I got from them. The trans should be fine, but the install sucked.
