Hi everyone,
I wanted to tell all the LA members about a public fab and machine shop I am trying to open. It should be a great place to work on small projects and have all the great fab and machine tools at your disposal. Take a look at my kickstarter page where it explains more about how i'm trying to get this going and what you can do to help. If you have questions please ask them on the kickstarter page as I cant get to the forums as quickly as I would like.

Not a bad Idea, the only drawback I can see would be educating people who want to work on their stuff and insurance. There is a "company" in the LA/Long Beach area that people use for their bikes like that. You pay a fee and you can go in there and use their tools. You should look into that for a model to reference off of

Shep is talking about the "Bike Kitchen".
Best of luck to you!

The Bike Kitchen is for Bicycles. There was a place in Escondido that was open for a while but shut down because of the idiots who thought anyone can fix Motorcycles.

You should check out this place for ideas. You can take classes and use everything they have, CNC machines, Mills, Welders, Lathes, you name it they have it available.

My plan is based off the tech shop. I also plan on having at least one auto bay for single day repairs and jobs and some room for motorcycles.

There was a place they showed on "Cool Tools" a couple weeks ago. It said for the equivalent of a high end gym membership you could join and "build your dreams". They had everything from fab tools, welders to 3d printers.

Ok I just found it and it is the techshop mentioned above. I sure wish I lived close to one of those.
