I have had starting issues in the past but after fixing those there still one more. The fuel system is a1000 pump, pump controller, back flow preventer and pre and post filters. It will start after a lot of cranking. After running it restarts no problems if done in the same day. Two days later it goes back to hard starting. I put a fuel pressure gauge on intake today with these results.
Turn key full prime 60psi
controller starts pulsing it drops 18 then bounce 25-40
turn power off and it drops to 0
I have looked for fuel leaks in line but no luck.

Where in the system is the check valve mounted? Have you tested it?

Sounds like you are starving the pump. I only see the psi bounce when I'm running out of fuel. My A1000 with the pump controller primes everytime on start-up to 45psig solid. Check controller: Try flipping the override switch and see if it does the same thing. (Controller or feed/pick-up?) On a prior tank, if I ran dry, I would play heII trying to reprime. (This is where hard corners were bad)This was because the pump was higher then the tank fuel level. Can't say I ever have a bleed back issue.
Now my pump is in the tank..Rick's Tank, Quick prime, Hard Corners..no problem.

I tried it again this morning five times with same results and after the 60 the controller turns on and it bounces 40-45 then when pump shuts of back to zero. Mabye it was low yesterday since installing the gauge I lost some fuel in the line. The check vavle is after the second filter. I check all the lines again and still no leaks.

Did you install the check valve after this issue?
I installed the toggle switch to ground (SWT) to be able to run the pump at will when the key is in the on position. Flip this switch on before starting the engine, how long does it take to build pressure?
My gauge reads 40psig after I shut it down, but it's an electronic Autometer which hold the last value when shutdown. When I start it goes to 0 and after a couple of seconds lifts to 45. My Accel EFI start-up pump prime is about 3-5sec then shut off.

I tried using the toggle with same results. Today I pinched the return line and its at 80. It will hold at that even when pump shuts down. Maybe it would be just a faulty regulator?

That would do it..sounds like you found it.
