While I dropped the pan to change the oil and filter I wanted to check the position of the TV Plunger at static idle and WOT. I read somewhere that you should see 6 detents and the plunger should be resting on the TV Lever (is this true?) and at WOT the plunger should be completely inside the bore. I'm good at WOT but I only saw 5 detents in the idle position. The last time I checked the pressure with a gauge all ranges were within specs. Any ideas about the number of detents that should be visible in the idle position?
I don't have an external converter lock-up harness installed and I'm not sure if I have a lock-up or non-lock-up converter. The transmission is a 1988 model from B&M and I believe the converter is a 2800 or 3000 stall. I see the lock-up solenoid and 2 wires connected to a switch on the right rear of the valve body. I also have a switch in the rear center of the valve body that is not hooked to any leads. Does anyone know what these 2 switches are suppose to control? Can I purchase an external harness and route it through my brake switch to activate the lock-up solenoid or is the process more complex? Finally, if I have a non-lock converter, will I cause any damage attempting to energize the lock-up solenoid?
