Well turns out its still active and he won some money,,,not millions but few thousand.
Well I come home after talking to couple of friends who had different things happen, like one guy looked at end of contest date wrong and thought his entry was past but sent it in anyway. He wins. Another had something similar happen.
WELL I look down after replacing the 3 way lamp bulb thats been out for last two months and had no cash to buy new one (yes got first pay check from new job!!!!!) and there is the gold 1967 GTO Hot Wheels that has Hot rod Magazine Test Car on side and WINNER! in red on trunk.
Always wondered what this little car meant with winner on trunk.
Odd how life just reminds you of wanting to figure out what it was winner for. It came in Power Tour Grab Bag one year and I never learned what it meant,,,we were always busy getting to and from stops and I never got to ask anyone from the show.
Just curious, now it has me wondering.

Hang on, I'll get an answer... I remember the promotion, just not the prize... I'll talk to a buddy and see.

Here's a link to a discussion, from a guy who describes the GTO that you have, as a "Golden Ticket" promotional souvenir, for participating in the 2000 Hot Rod Power Tour:

As the op is curious to the collector's value of the car, the reply is "about $20", according to the next poster; I've seen the same car listed on Ebay for $145, and another sold recently for $40 (as you describe, '67 GTO, with "WINNER" on trunk, still sealed in Hot Rod/Hot Wheels bag!

Hot Rod/Hot Wheels bag? HMMMM never had one of those it was simply loose in the goody bag.
Kind of interesting when people actually know what its all about,, or sort of.
Since starting new job its gonna be while before I get to hit another Power Tour, one thing about Pep Tucky was the PTO set up,, it was best vacation/time off set up of all jobs,, too bad the upper management near stores was so friggin messed up. Make a guy think he stepped into bizzarro world!Heck my buddy who went part time just before Ileft then moved to a motor pool job at IU college and started a part time shop on his own just got begged to some back.
Told him to ask for $15k signing bonus payable on first clock in and no having to pay it back when leaving under any circumstances, then $85k a year and able ot drive one of the delivery trucks to and from home and gas money! Start then quit after one day,,, oh and the Service manager cant talk to him.
He told them no and Blake is stupid! ahahah
