I bought a 1977 Chevy Monza Sport 2+2 from Daytona, FL about 6 months ago and dragged it home to the MS gulf coast for work. It was cheap and 99% rust-free.

What ive done so far:

S-10 conversion on all 4 wheels to upgrade to 5 lug and brakes, spindles, axels.

Brakes: S-10 drums in rear, Wilwood drilled and slotted dics brakes for the front.

Optima Battery red top

Evans Waterless coolant

Magnaflow muffler dual inlet/outlet and new pipes.

New Lakewood Shocks front and rear

New Moog Coil Springs

Interior redone/Dynamatted

Windows Tinted

American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels 15" all 4, Front 7" Rear 8.5'' wide.

Subframe connectors Welded on

Autometer Gauges-American Muscle series 5 gauges.

Ive brought it about as far as it can go. it still needs a little mechanical work and some body/paint work.

Thats why Frank from Prodigy Customs just picked the car up. I should have some new pics up in about a week of the car as it starts gettin worked on.

Man I had one of those in high school!! Mine had the 231cid and it was a piece of **** but I loved it!! Yours is way better looking than mine was. Don't know if you dig the 70's flared fender look but a few of them ran in the SCCA back in the day and they were wild. Monster Monzas I think they were called and they hauled ass!! Anyway, good luck and have fun with it.

It will be interesting to see the Prodigy magic performed on one of these.
Does this mean that Monzas and Vegas are about to become mainstream? lol

So what's the weight currently/projected of this thing gonna be?
If you can get it under 2800 lbs or so, it will be a screamer, no matter how much power it has

Mine has a 350 Sbc from a Nova and a TH 350 Tranny but its is making a scrapin noise at launch so Frank is gona upgrade me to a 700R4 4 speed auto with an overdrive.

I think your talking about the Monza Mirage by IMSA, cool variant.

Def not! These arent collector cars, at best they were successful drag cars. I bought my 99% rust free '77 Monza for $3200, nice and cheap. But what a fun car, i luv my Monza.

Well i know when it was stock it was under 2800 lbs. I will get Frank to weigh my Monza when he's finished if he can. It should be kept under 2900 lbs.

Interior Shot- I have a radio delete panel that is going to be installed by prodigy Customs. No stereo for me that is what the engine is for! I also installed a 15" Grant steering wheel, alot smaller then stock. Excuse my cracked A-pillar trim, hardest car part to find!

Yes craiglist from Daytona. I just saw a Buick Skyhawk Not sell on ebay for $2500. There out there, keep watching ebay and craig's. Most H-bodys just rusted away.

Log onto the forum at H-body.org. If something comes up on craigslist, kijiji, e-bay, or if a member is selling it will show up pretty quick.

Small update: Front spoiler finally came in.

Missing A/C brackets stalled the project but they should be in Friday, hard part to find.

Lots of hiccups in this project. H-body parts are hard too find. Here's a couple pics from Prodigy prepping the Monza for paint. Supposed to be done and home on the 3rd, fingers crossed.

I am definitely liking the color change. It's going to look great when it's all put together. Did Frank send you the pictures or were you in the shop yourself?

Welcome to the Hbody club, there are a few of us on here. I am saving up for my Ridetech parts, Going to run CoilOvers in front for now, and CoolRide in back. Also looking to get my 283 built up, double humps as they are what I have. I have an LT1 FI intake to adapt on and intend to hopefully run twin GT2871R ebay turbos. Time and cash will tell, My name for my project is Project: Cheap Trick. As I intend to keep it as cheap as possible. Also Ill add in my own custom bolt in 4 link, been talking about it for years and finally think we have all issues worked out, and possibly looking at a TigerCage if can mix and match enough parts.
Was in decent shape last fall but a loss of job has set my plans back a little, Also have another project my 84 Caprice, its gonna get a bbc, 18 in Corvette split 5 spoke black repro wheels, 14 in Corvette brakes/S10 disc, CoolRide from Ridetech also and its name is Project What If,,,.
What if EPA wasnt around and the 84 2dr Caprice could have been had with performance options. Even thinking of adding GT2871Rs to this one too. I will try to make it look like GM did it.

Car is home safe and sound! Frank at Prodigy Customs went above and beyond what i was expecting on my paint and body could be, i luv it! Also having Vintage Air installed in my Monza is also stellar, angels breath!

The car is currently getting some new rear coil springs and Borgeson steering box installed. after that and a few more parts to install i will post pix. My Monza is IMO the best Monza ive ever seen in person or internet.

Man, I love what you've down with the Monza! I could certainly see it coming down a few inches all the way around, but I like them low and it's only my opinion.

Nice job on the car. I haven't seen one in years!
I was in a rut for quite a few years and only owned H body cars. My favorite is a toss up between a Town Coupe that we dropped a built 283 in or the wagon with the turbo Regal motor. Man I miss my wagon. Sorry no pics. Spent all my money on fast cars and women. Didn't have money for a camera.
