Picked this up before I decided to use stainless. Tried doing 2 flares in stainless and it did not work well enough. Otherwise brand new, just out of the box last night.
Here's the link to the tool (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Standard-Flaring-Tool-37-Degree-AN,2931.html).
$35 shipped in lower 48.

Any pictures of it ? Did the stainless cut into the cone?

i have that same tool, made by Imperial. It has worked well for me on stainess up to AN8. The trick is to lube the thread with moly grease, chamfer the ID and OD of the tube, and take your time.

I too have made hundreds of flares with an Imperial tool. Lubing the threads and a drop of oil on the cone help immensely with stainless. This is not quite the same tool. The problem with this particular one is the dies do not line up well in the axial direction when clamping the tubing. There is a 0.050-0.070" gap between the dies when it is clamped and as the cone is pressing down the tend to rock and it puts a slight kink at the base of the flare. I have tried several 3/16" flares with stainless and had this problem. 1/2" aluminum seemed to work much better.
Some of the reviews for this exact tool at Speedway Motors are great, some not so much. Maybe I got a less than great example. Not trying to screw anybody. If someone wants to give this a shot let me know.
