Been doing some searches and didn't really find a 100% fool proof solution. Then someone posted an obvious place to look. Crutchfield. So I took a quick look and found this item. Looks like it will probably do the trick for me since I'm starting out with a blank center dash panel. I figure I can cut a hole for this to fit through the dash and be level. Then make a few brackets to hold it in place. Cheap enough to give it a try anyway. Anyone used something like this yet ???

I haven't used this particular pocket in a '67/8 but have used a few of them for other installs. 2 things to keep in mind.

1.) make sure the head unit you choose is of a depth that the pocket will accept. I've seen a few of these that would only accept radios up to a specific depth.
2.) it appears this particular unit has no ventilation. If you're pushing the radio hard it's possible you could overheat it.

Many aftermarket head units come with 1 DIN sleeves that can be used to support the radio. If you're doing this you'll need to be pretty studious during the installation and insure you've got really tight gaps between your dash and the bucket as some radios don't come with a large bezel. I've had pretty good luck with Kenwood during many of my installs.
Most of the radios have shipped with an installation sleeve and also have larger bezels that hide the mount well.

Are you using the DIN pocket as it is intended (to store a phone/tickets/sunglasses etc), or are you installing a head unit?

This should do the trick

Did you make that or buy it somewhere ??? I can sort of see how to make one once I get my metal break assembled.
