Well I was crusing home with my buddies on Saturday night in the chevelle. We were on our way back from a bonfire at Huntington Beach. Well we were passing through Long Beach crusing around at like 11 p.m. I come up to a red light and no one is around. Well thats when a Long Beach police officer pulls up in his Marked Crown Victoria. He has his window rolled down as do I. He looks over starts smiling and revs the crap out of his crown vic. He does this several times. So I rev up the chevelle and then he starts power braking it and started doing a burnout. Smoke was everywhere. Well at this point me an my friends were confused as to what we should do. I never street race anyway but how could I pass up when a cops trying to race me. So when the light turned green I hammered it through the intersection and let off. He took off like a bat out of hell and kept going till I lost track of him. I wonder what the people behind us thought :seizure: . Well thats one of the coolest cops Ive ever ran into and at least I had two witnesses in the car for that awesome story. Just had to share but has anyone else experinced this?

Funny! Around here there are cops on the highway that try to bait people into 'street racing', then pull them over and impound their car.

That would be a way cruel entrapment scheme, but if he was just playing then that's to cool.

I've heard of the entrapment thing, the next county over has a new Mustang they bait people with, dicks! There are some cops out there that are just into writing tickets all the time, Steve

I was in Manassas Virginia one time at a light and the motorcycle cop next to me yells over "smoke 'em if you can!"

I decided not to tempt fate... It was also on a crowded street... not the kind of place you would want to risk such a thing anyway.

i raced a alameda county sherriff on 580 east ...but when i was doin like arround 120 he turned on the lights and i was thinkin *what a b-----* but so i was gonna pull over but he turned em off and kept on goin so my only guess was that he prolly thought i was goin to fast and it may be unsafe haha or something

but my brother has raced a cop before, only reason being that the cop had known my brother for years and years...

My younger brother was a cop at one time and stopped a friend of ours one night. He told the friend that if he did not smoke the tires when he left, he would write him a ticket. Of course, Ray was more that happy to do a freebie, and Jeff, my brother had a cool tape of it on his in car camera.
Another cool thing involving cops that I have witnessed is at the World Street Finals in Orlando every year. The night before the event, they have the car show at Race Rock. When everyone gets ready to leave, the cops actually stop traffic and allow the participates to do burnouts as they leave the parking lot. Coolest thing I ever saw.

Funny thing was the news story said they specifically target other Mustangs, LOL! I am safe, cause I usually don't mess with those slow cars!

haha, that's cool. LBPD is A-OK in my book. I was racing my bro thru the tunnel on the way to the Long Beach airport 5 or so years ago (he was in a 66 mustang, i was in my 68 camaro). 2am, nice in wide, i came outta the tunnel at about a buck ten, he was right behind me, vroooom right past a cop. Pulls me over, shows me the gun....112mph. Has a chuckle, gets back in his car, spins a couple donuts then takes off.

Yes, I'm much wiser now, even if he condined this behavior, lol

But stay away from HBPD, not so nice:/

yeah our county has two unmarked b4c's...apparently with a lot of work done to both. the only way you can tell is they're z28s, but with ss badges. they go race-baiting all the time, and rumor has it when they get bored they'll take them out to the little local runway and drag 'em for fun.

i live in pure good-ol-boy country, so there's still a lot of camaro vs. mustang emotion in the area. i had a buddy with an lt1 get pulled while he was racing a cobra...cop walked up, looked at the back of his car, saw the sticker on the top of his berger panel that said "i like cobras-they taste like chicken", laughed his ass off, and walked up to the cobra and wrote him a ticket.

A buddy of mine and this other kid were parked in a parking lot one night, my buddy has a '98 cobra, and the other kid had a 5.0. Well, long story short, they had their hoods up shootin' the bull when a cop rolls in. Cop starts talking to them, and asks them if they wanted to race. The cop was in a marked car, and was supposidly a really cool guy, but they both declined. The cop told 'em if they won, they were free to go, if they lost, they were getting their cars impounded, lol. They pulled out of that parking lot reallllly slowly.

i had a cop pull up to me at a light and ask me if my car was quick or not, when i replied hell yeah he asked if he could see. so i asked him if he was on duty to which he replied "not when that light turns green" so when the light went green i did my duty to leave his ass sitting there in a haze of smoke. he caught up to me about a mile down the road at another red light. and i quote "goes good goes good" yeah, wanna see again? "nah, ill be on duty when this light turns green"
never saw that guy again, but he was the 2nd coolest cop i ever met, the coolest involved me, a long stretch of road and 142 miles an hour, but we wont get into that. i dont condone street racing.

Great tricks man.....

Thats even better than when the five-o in San Diego used to sit at 'our finish line' and would use their blinkers to signal which lane won.

I dont like to participate in street racing because I heard they crush your car now in California if you are caught. Also I had a neighbor die while racing in his Honda Hatchback. Funny thing is I passed through that same tunnel by the airport. I love driving through there, makes your car echo like hell. I didnt want to find out if the cop was trying to bait me but he looked like a rookie on a slow night. I probably would be doing the same if I were him.

" Now that is a cool cop story!! I would have been laughing so hard if I had seen some cop doing that right in the street. Power braking his car then taking off as you said "like a bat out of hell" :lmao:

I got baited by a South Carolina cop while I was in the service. Actually I pulled up next to their boss, and their boss thought I was trying to race him. I honestly had to 2 foot it to keep the rpm's up, had carb problems then. He had his "boys" in an unmarked camaro (this was back in 93) Light green I took off slow, up to about 45, the camaro would spped up next to me then slow down, actually annoyed the hell out of me, I jumped on it got away from them then slowed back down Camaro caught up then turned his lights on! argh!! I was pissed. I was in the left and almost did a right turn straight over to the right side of the right, right across three lanes of traffic. It was around midnight or later, only ones ont he road.

when the 69 camaro was in track form i snuck it out of town and clicked off a couple of launches and 0-80 passes with a g-tech to check my set up. a friend of mine with a turbo mustang passed by and we ran best of 3 which i took him on. the way back into town i pulled into the back of an empty parking lot and in pulls a sheriff looking for a street racer. he looking the car over, expired plates, slicks, open exhaust, rubber all over the quarters and a g-tech. another sheriff pulls in sends him off and i think im screwed until i recognize the guy. he been building up a 70 camaro for a few years, looks the car over asks me my cam specs and stall speed, how i did against the mustang, and tells me to get the hell off the street.

I had an Illinois State patrolman drive my modified Z06 (in my gallery) with me in the passenger seat...When we hit 140, I told him that was fast enough.

Although he is a friend of mine and we didnt race anyone but ourselves, if you ask me thats a cool cop if I ever met one.
