I'm installing them in my Camaro right now. I'm not intending to use the OBD2 add-on and as far as I read the instructions, no need for it.

Finished the installation of the VHX gauges today and can confirm you don't need an OBDII add-on. Optionally you could use one instead of the sensors that come with the gauges. In case you want to avoid extra wiring in the engine compartment you can use the signals from the OBDII.
For the record; everything (sensors, adapters, wiring) is included in the kit. The manual/instructions is/are also very clear and setting up the gauges is quite easy and very versatile. Highly recommended mod and well worth the money.

Is this unit compatable with the FAST XIM and TCI TCU units.

The Fast XIM module will undoubtly give you a tach signal, the VHX gauges can be set up for several different signals (5V square and 12V). Even the reaction time of the dial can be set (Fast, Medium, SLow).
The TCI TCU will provide the Speed signal (VSS).
Rest of it is stand alone and not depending upon the ECU and/or TCU.
