Hey guys brand new and im wanting to build a pro touring LT1/4, what valve train would hold up at 8000rpms abuse on a .40 357 LT4? planning on this to be streetable maybe daily driver if possible and a high revving reliable LT4. using Advance induction LT4 215cc heads.
Check with AI for sure as they really know what they are doing with LT engines. I would say Crane Gold rockers should work fine. LT4 engines came from the factory with them installed. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the build. I love LT motors and may one day get a chance to build mine up. Do post your project in the project section and give the engine details. I'd love to know what you're planning.

The valvetrain on the LT1/4 is basically the same as the earlier small-blocks, so what works for them would work for the LTs. Cam is different for the optispark drive, but the rest is similar.

8000RPM and a daily driver? That will not be a fun motor to drive around in. It will be a pig down low for one. Two, a regular SB style valvetrain would last all but 2 seconds at 8000RPM. Look into rail mount rockers if you want to turn that kind of RPM's. Also, expect to shell out a considerable amount of money to build an engine for that RPM range. As for the camshaft being different than a SB cam, that is incorrect. The cam is exactly the same. The only difference is the pin on the end of the camshaft is longer to accommodate the cam driven Optispark distributor. Speaking of the Optispark...it will not handle that amount of RPM. I suggest looking for a different type of motor if your deadset on that amount of RPM. However, I question your choice considering you say you want to daily drive it. What is your actual intent of this car/motor build?
