Well work on the Gartshore Special has been moving right along and Carbon Kustoms is very please to announce that the Carbon Fiber composite door Skin molds are completed and the initial parts are out of the mold as seen above....

We will be offering these door skins to the public this summer and have made the following decision to further the "Gartshore Special"cause... We will pre-release up to 3 sets of these door skins and will donate 50% of what is raised
to our build efforts fund given the fact we will need ""some funds"" to build this beautiful car ....

The parts will be sold starting at $350 USD ea plus shipping..... I will post details in the coming days on how to bid,,, I think you'll like it if I can make the computer Gods smile down on us LOL...

The labor and a ton of parts certainly have been donated already... """ It should be noted clearly 99.999% of the industry has stepped up SO LARGE"".... ^5 all these industry leaders and thanks you for being so generous,,, this is just our/my way of trying to put a little more icing on the cake as well.....

So stay tuned for updates on how you can own one of the first sets of Carbon composite door skins in the Market......

Does this have the inner structure at all? Or is this just the skin like the factory?

How much do they weigh?

I am a bit confused too...
Is this just the outer skin, after reading it a couple times "skin" and "shell" are both used in the description. Even at $350 for just the skin, that is still a good price but I am curious how much a shell will be.

Still amazing part, but I WANT an entire shell, and for a 69 Camaro!!!
Please...

Sorry for not being as clear as I should have gang,,,, these are "door skins" only and at $350each (sold as a pair) we will be marking an opening bid (an auction format) to raise a few extra dollars to support the "Tod Gartshore build".... I am working on a format to have it open/available for people to bid on the first sets of skins to hit the market.... They will not be available to the public for another 3 months or so,,,, this is a way to get a set early of door skins essentially and help the cause....

We will in the foreseeable future finish the molds for the inner shell,,,, then have a Laminate engineer spec a schedule for the crash bar, and then produce the part/s.... This will likely take a good part of the year to complete the process and we will at that point have an engineered door (complete as a skin and inner shell) for sale for 70-73 Camaro's and Firebirds as a complete unit all things equal...

70-73 Camaro's and Firebirds

70-81 doors are all the same.

Just out of curiosity, how to you attach the skins to the existing shell? some kind of epoxy?

Also whats the "Gartshore Special"?

Hey Albert, thats an awsome door what do you figure the weight is going to be on a completed complete door ? and are the made in To or the US ?
Thanks Hans

Hey Hans we have no info yet sorry dude,,,, we haven't even had time to weigh the skin at this point..... A stock door should weigh approximately 110lbs+ fully dressed (guesstimate) and and a "fully engineered and fully dressed complete composite door" should be a pretty much substantially lighter .... We'll have to wait to see what the engineers say about laminate schedules prior to making guesstimates though...

On my own personal car I will be playing with a "Ultra light" version that has removable plexiglass side windows, no regulators but otherwise dressed and I'm try to target about 25lbs or less on those doors with a composite reinforcing/impact panel built into it..... This will not be an engineered door,, but you can well imagine that it'll be built like a brick **** house if my tukass is going to be driving around in the car LOL...

Should be do-able, I know the fiberglass doors from unlimited are around 20 pounds assembled with regulator/glass and without a impact strip. Keep us posted when you get closer to a final product.

Hi Nick, yes we will be making these hoods available in the future,,, for now however they will be only produced in extremely limited production to keep the value of the Charity car intact....

Albert,

Excited to see these parts emerge for Sec Gen Camaro! Looks awesome. I may have missed this, but how does one install the skins? I would really like to get a set if its something I could install myself.

Great question..and one I was going to ask as well.

This is exiting news! I have been looking high and low for a hood for my 70 that I liked... Great work Albert! I want to ad a question here also.... The header panel in the rendering appears to be needed to go along with the hood due to the lines and where the raised area starts. So is there header panel going to be available also?

The header panel also seems to incorporate the Rally Sport nose piece..... Yes? Please!

I noticed that as well, just figured I would start small and ask about the hood... But yes, you can put me down for both please. :attn:

Hi guys sorry I've been on the road again for the last week (really have to work on my mobile skills)... The hood transitions to the header in the molds so you can run a stock nose,,, however we are producing the nose as well and when both the hood and nose mate it is really quite sweet looking.... I will keep you all up to date as we progress through the molds and initial production.....
