Want to drop the mustang 1" but the old long tubes are too low. Should I go with try y's and bend them if need be or shortys?

On my GTO as the passenger side header was 1.5 inches lower than the drivers side. I cut the old header apart and cut the tubes up to shorten them using a jig to put it back together. I hope to have time to weld it up this weekend. It takes some time with little cuts to get it to line up.

I've heard the Tri Y style headers fit with better clearance. I went with a shorty style header so I would not have to worry about it.
Most of the long tube headers were designed for use in cars with either the 289, 302, or 351. The 351 exhaust ports on the engine are about an inch higher than on the 289/302. This works great for the 351 guys but if you are running a 289 or 302, you end up with clearance problems as they hang an inch lower.

My headers are old and rusty and I have a 302. Shortys may be the answer here.
67TXStang I really like your 67 by the way.

Is it the whole header, or just the flange? I've heard of people cutting off the flange and using a band clamp for extra clearance.

Or a ball/socket setup. Flowmaster has kits

Well the flange does hang lower but I will need more clearance than that.
